Well done to our u16 girls who contested a Division 1 county title this evening v St Lomans. Unfortunately, they lost out on a score line of 6-12 to 3-08 but the girls battled to the end in a very competitive game.
Thanks to all the management team who worked very hard with this group all year and to all the parents and supporters who got behind the team in every game 💚❤️

The U14 Green team beat Moate 11-07 to 3-08 to reach their county final.
This is a fantastic achievement from a super group of players. Every single girl left everything out on the pitch today. Well done to players and management. 🙌👏

🇧🇾 County Final Bound 🇧🇾
Our U14 Div 1 team were victorious in their semi final today against our neighbours Athlone. 👏👏
In what was a dogged battle our girls showed great fight and determination through the whole pitch, and came out victors by a score of 10.05 - 4.05.
It now sets up a replay of last years Div 1 final against St Lomans in a couple of weeks time. Garrycastle will be hoping to turn the table on last years result.

🇧🇾 Sunday morning in Garrycastle it’s the street leagues followed by u14 Girls Div1 semifinal at 1pm.
🇧🇾 Sunday at 2pm in Tang the Senior ladies face Milltown in the Senior Championship semi-final.

There will be a bake sale organised by parents of the u17s on Sunday morning at 11am to fundraise for Karl Henson representing Garrycastle GAA in the Westmeathgaaofficial Quid games.

Garrycastle girls participated in a very enjoyable blitz hosted by Goldsmiths on Saturday morning.
We fielded three teams for the final blitz of the year at Tubberclair GAA.
Fantastic goal keeping by Meabh and Rebecca. Neansai, Ciara and Caoimhe have a great display of their hand passing skills. Fiadh, Amelie and Anna took some fine scores. Thanks to all the coaches for their help, notably Niall covering so much ground in his new wellies!

The last round of the senior championship sees GARRYCASTLE play THE DOWNS this Sat Sept 16th @ 5.30pm in Garrycastle.

Milltown are currently on 18 points with three teams all on 12 points going into this last game - Garrycastle, The Downs, St Mary's and St Loman's. Only four teams can go through to the semi final stages!

Garrycastle had a very enjoyable and successful sponsored walk on Sunday afternoon. The spell of good weather lasted and our underage girls, boys and their families came out in large numbers to walk, scoot, cycle and run with their club friends to support this fundraiser. Thank you to everyone involved in organising, to those who helped on the day and to all the boys, girls and their families who helped make it such an enjoyable afternoon and a successful fundraiser.

It is with tremendous pain and sadness we learned of the untimely passing of Staci Daly (nee Wykes). A former player with our club from underage to senior, Staci a talented and skillful footballer, won accolades at all levels, including 2 All-Ireland Féile titles, 2 senior championship titles as well as representing her county numerous times at underage.
All of us in the Garrycastle club extend heartfelt sympathy to Staci’s husband Cathal, her mother Jackie who is a loyal supported and heavily involved in our club, to Pat, Linda, her grandparents Billy, Imelda & Peggy, to the extended family and to her friends and colleagues. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

While we do receive some grants for larger projects like the newly constructed gym and floodlights, the majority of day to day costs need to be covered by our various fundraisers and so your support would be greatly appreciated.

Hazel is part of the Ireland u17 soccer squad that will play Poland, Scotland and Portugal over the next two weeks. What an amazing achievement for such a young athlete 🤩
