Sílim gur labhair mé níos mó Gaeilge an deireadh seachtaine seo sa Bhruiséil ná mar a labhraím sa bhaile de ghnáth!

Sin ceann de na rudaí atá chomh speisialta faoin mBruiséil.

Tá daoine anseo ag obair trí Ghaeilge, ag tógáil a gcuid páistí le Gaeilge, agus ag cothú na Gaeilge i gcroílár na hEorpa.

Bhí sé go hiontach teacht anall d’Éigse na Bruiséile agus Diarmuid agus an Mata Yoga Draíochta a chur i láthair ag an matinée páistí sa Piano Fabriek.

Léiríonn Gaeil na Bruiséile go bhfuil an Ghaeilge beo beathach — cibé áit a dtéann muid. 🇮🇪🇧🇪

I think I spoke more Irish this weekend in Brussels than I usually do Dublin

That’s one of the things that makes Brussels so special.

There are people here working through Irish, raising their children through Irish, and nurturing the language right in the heart of Europe.

It was brilliant to come over for Éigse na Bruiséile and bring Diarmuid agus an Mata Yoga Draíochta to the children’s matinée at Piano Fabriek.

The Irish-speaking community in Brussels shows that the Irish language is alive and thriving — wherever we go. 🇮🇪🇧🇪

Not the result we wanted, but some experience playing in an All-Ireland Masters Final. 💙🩵

Seven points up with six minutes to go, extra time, and eventually a golden score to decide it after 85+ minutes of football. About as close as you can get.

Obviously devastating to come out on the wrong side of it, but a privilege to pull on the Dublin jersey, share the pitch with some serious footballers, and still be competing at this stage of the game.

And probably the proudest part was having the kids there to see their dad pull on a Dublin jersey — hopefully showing them that you never really have to stop playing, competing and having a go.

Even if getting everyone to look at the camera afterwards proved impossible. 😂

A superb two-part documentary on telling the story of how Eoghan Daltun transformed a neglected and ecologically damaged farm on the Beara Peninsula by simply giving nature the chance to recover. 🌳

I read Eoghan’s book An Irish Atlantic Rainforest a few years ago and it genuinely changed the way I looked at the Irish landscape — and at what might be possible when we give nature a little more space.

His work has been a real inspiration to me ever since.

If you haven’t read the book, I’d highly recommend it — and the documentary is well worth a watch. 🇮🇪🌿

Family Yoga as Gaeilge @ Malahide Castle ☘️🧘‍♂️

What a day at the Fingal Sports Festival! 🙌

I have to say, this was probably one of the best family events we've ever been at. There was just so much for the kids to do — sport, activities, challenges and a brilliant atmosphere all day.

Delighted to have Óga Yoga there too, bringing a little spórt, spraoi agus suaimhneas as Gaeilge to Malahide Castle. 💙
