What a day out in Bantry Bay for the Water Heritage Day!

We were delighted to lead the way with Unité, with a brilliant mix of boats, and Sionn Mhara, taking to the water to celebrate our rich maritime heritage 🙌🏻

It was a great day to share the water with everyone who came along, thank you so much ⛵️

Our Unité is finally home!

It was all hands on deck as we unloaded her from the container and launched her back home safely in the Bantry Bay 🌊

A big thanks to Topline Murphy & O' Connor for their help and letting us use their facilities 🙌🏻

Join us this Saturday, 22nd August, for a very special Water Heritage Day celebrating Bantry’s maritime community.

This year will be led by the Unité crew as we celebrate the bringing of the Atlantic Challenge International Contest of Seamanship championship home to Bantry! 🏆🇮🇪

This day means so much to us, Bantry Bay Sailing Club and Bantry Rowing Club, and our local community who are so important to the Atlantic Challenge organisation and the future of water sports in Bantry.

⚓ The Great Bantry Flotilla kicks off at 3pm from the proposed BMAC site beside Abbey Slip. Boats of all shapes and sizes are welcome to join us for a cruise around Whiddy Island, paddles, oars or sails!

The afternoon will also include a guided shoreline walk and a 5:30pm group swim/dip, followed by an evening social at Abbey Slip with music, refreshments, stories and plenty of good craic 🎶

It’s free, family-friendly and open to everyone, so whether you’re joining us on the water or cheering from the shore, we’d love to see you there!

Let’s celebrate Bantry’s water heritage past, present and future 💙

On behalf of the entire Unité crew, we want to say a huge THANK YOU for the incredible homecoming we received on Friday 💙

We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate this special achievement with us, and to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make such a memorable welcome possible. A special thank you to Gearóid, who did a fantastic job as MC and kept the celebrations flowing so brilliantly. 🙌🏻

It was an amazing evening catching up with friends, family, and supporters in the square before continuing the celebrations at The Anchor Tavern. A special thank you to Paudie for hosting us!

The support we’ve received means the world to us. Here’s to making even more memories at the Atlantic Challenge in Bantry 2028 🎉
