The countdown is well and truly on, in two weeks, the women's senior national team will be traveling to Krynica, Poland to compete in the 2023 Development cup.

Game 2

With the first game going down to a shootout, both teams were hungry for a win.

It was a solid defensive performance by Ireland in the first period, with the Steel Queens failing to capitalise on the opportunities they had. While both teams tested the netminders, the period ended 0-0.

After an even start to the second, things lit up halfway through the period. Hallie Cummins held opened the scoring for Ireland with a deflected blue line shot.

Not to be outdone, Steel Queens hit back a minute later, with a Dias-Scoon slap shot from the Queens blue line.

The Queens scored again after a crease scramble, and Kaitlyn Morrison tied the game with a great pass from Cummins in a 4 goals in 4 minutes frenzy.

The game continued to be end to end, but it was the Steel Queens that scored again before the period finished 3-2 Queens.

The first 10 minutes of the 3rd saw more end to end action, with both teams finding themselves unable to capitalise on scoring opportunities. It was the Queens that struck again with 2 goals in 2 minutes bring the score to 5-2.

Ireland continued to fight, with Morrison scoring her second of the game with 5 minutes to go. But the gap was too big and the Steel Queens held out for a 5-3 victory.

It was a great game against the Steel Queens last night as the Ireland Women’s Team prepare for the Development Cup in Poland.

After the Steel Queens took an early 2-0 lead, Ireland fought back with 2 goals from Kaitlyn Morrison to draw the game level coming into the third.
Ireland capitalised on a power play late in the third, with Morrison getting her hat trick.

The Steel Queens got one back before the final whistle to draw the game level at 3-3.
Steel Queens came out victorious after the shootout, and we look forward to the 2nd game tonight.

The Steel Queens are travelling over from Scotland to take on the women in what promises to be a great weekend of hockey.
