It is with deep sadness that we have learned about the passing of our Honourary Club President John Fair. John was widely regarded in his community as a family man who loved life and enjoyed his sports. He was never a man to sit still, with his love of farming in the Church Brea everyone knew John. Over the years John enjoyed the privilege of participating in wrestling, boxing, a bit of football ( watching mostly) motor bike racing and bowls. He was always ready for the craic and a bit of banter and enjoyed the occasional night in ‘The Brea’ or The Cyclists Rest.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Pearl , sons Jason, Jonathan, Mark, Stephen, daughters Sharon, Tanya and Fiona. All his family, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace John - A life well lived and loved by all who met him 🖤👊👊🖤

As brings her glittering career to a close in Croke Park, we reflect on the beginning beginning of her competitive career, through the eyes of a person with a unique vantage point on Katie Taylor’s first sanctioned bout: Referee, Sadie Duffy.

This is the inaugural installment of Boxing Ireland's In the Moment series, a point-of-view essay series capturing the defining moments of Irish boxing through the eyes of those who lived them, revealing the sacrifice, emotion and significance behind the fights and events that shaped our sport, and our community.

This is not just what happened, but what it felt like to be there.
