It was truly heartwarming to see so many people engaging with the River of Words installation and the work of the brilliant writers who have taken part in the Word Sparks ekphrastic writing sessions over the last 18 months

Ekphrastic writing is creative work that responds to a piece of visual art - it comes from the Ancient Greek ékphrasis: 'ek' meaning 'out' plus 'phrazein' meaning 'speak/tell'

But Word Sparks isn't just ekphrastic writing - it is an opportunity to slow down and take a morning to fill your creative cup...

It has been a pleasure welcoming our VIP visitors from Loreto Clonmel and Raheen College to the River of Words installation this week - both groups were an absolute credit to their schools 😊

There was lots of engagement from the students through written and artistic expression, a true reflection of inspiration flowing...

I am very excited to be working on an installation with the brilliant 🔸️pips🔸️ Artist for this year's Culture Night at STAC Chapel 🙌

River of Words is an immersive experience inspired by writings that have come out of the Word Sparks ekphrastic writing sessions at STAC over the last year and a half ✍️

It is designed as a space to meander through, to ponder and to be inspired by - inspiration that flows from artworks to written works to this installation and beyond, continuous, infinite and limited only by your imagination 💡

I am hugely grateful to the following writers for entrusting me with their precious words:
