πŸ† VOLUNTEERS IN SPORTS AWARDS 2026 πŸ†

Everyone at Newtown Celtic FC would like to congratulate our Chairman and Manager, Peter Donohoe,Β on his nomination for the Volunteers in Sports Awards 2026! πŸ‘πŸ’š

This nomination is thoroughly deserved and recognises the countless hours Peter puts into our club, often behind the scenes and away from the spotlight.

From lining out pitches and preparing for matches to making sure everything we need is organised, sourced and ready to go, Peter goes above and beyond to keep Newtown Celtic moving forward. Whether it’s sorting fixtures, organising equipment or taking care of the many jobs that come with running a football club, he gives an incredible amount of his own time and energy to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Running a club takes an enormous amount of work, much of which goes unseen, and Peter’s dedication, commitment and passion for Newtown Celtic are a huge part of what makes our club what it is today.

From everyone at Newtown Celtic FC, thank you for everything you do, and congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! πŸ’šπŸ€

Well done, Peter! πŸ‘πŸ†

A home game versus an in form BJD Celtic next for the lads as we look to continue our push for promotion.
Newtown won the reverse fixture 2:1 early on in the season in a very evenly matched contest.

A win for the lads would keep the pressure on the top 3 but 3 points for the visitors would move them within 6 points of us with 2 games in hand.

Come along and show your support this Thursday night under the lights in Ballinagh at 8pm .

The ladies put in a fabulous shift against table toppers Albion Rovers today. The "Celts" found themselves 2 goals in front as debutant Sarah Clarke and the relentless Shanise Fitzsimons found the back of the Albion net. But Albion showed their true class turning the game on its head and went into a 3:2 lead as Katie Callan scored a hat-trick. But Shanise Fitzsimons struck a marvelous shot from distance to grab a draw for Newtown with only moments remaining. A deserevd 3:3 draw with an Albion side who drop points for the first time in the league this season after 10 games played.

Newtown Celtic Ladies looked to redeem themselves this afternoon as they welcomed BJD Celtic to Ballinagh. BJD inflicted a heavy defeat on the ladies in their last meeting. Despite missing a number of regulars the Newtown ladies were full of spirit , energy and pride as produced a much improved display in a 1:1 draw and where unfortunate not to take all 3 points as the BJD keeper made a fine last minute penalty save.
Well done ladies and best of luck to BJD Celtic for the remainder of the season. πŸ’šπŸ€

Thursday night under the lights in Ballinagh certainly did not disappoint as Newtown Celtic and Rossin Rovers served up an incredible 11-goal thriller in awful weather conditions.

The Celts flew out of the blocks, racing into a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes thanks to goals from Thomas Smith and Dean Fay, despite having to withstand plenty of early Rossin pressure.

Rossin showed why they're one of the division's form teams, responding with two quick goals before half-time to send the sides in level at 2-2. Newtown were also dealt a huge blow just before the break when Ciaran Harrison was forced off with a bad ankle injury.

Newtown started the second half brightly and regained the lead through a superb finish from Stephen Gilcreest. But the visitors took control during a frantic spell, scoring four goals as Newtown lost their shape.

Aaron Reilly pulled one back late on, but Rossin added a seventh before the final whistle as the game finished Newtown Celtic 4-7 Rossin Rovers.

The result all but ends our late push for the Division 3 title, but promotion is still firmly in our own hands, with a Gerry Reilly Memorial Cup quarter-final also to look forward to.

Best of luck to Rossin Rovers in their pursuit of the Division 3 title, and we wish Ciaran Harrison a speedy recovery. πŸ’šπŸ€
