Congratulations to Chris Bateman and Lucy Loughton, who finished second in the Endeavour Trophy, the UK’s equivalent of the All-Ireland Championships. The prestigious event brings together the top boats from each dinghy class across the UK and was raced in the Melges 15 this year. Representing the B14 class, Chris and Lucy delivered a strong performance in big breezes against the best dinghy sailors in the UK. Well done! 👏

Closer to home, Alex Barry also put in a superb showing at the All Ireland Championships held at Royal Cork Yacht Club, finishing second overall. Alex ended the event on equal points with Ger Owens after some fiercely competitive racing among Ireland’s top dinghy sailors.
Well done also to William O’Brien, who was part of the crew with Josh Porter that finished third.

The event is running in partnership with Cancer Connect, who co ordinate transport to Cork hospitals for people undergoing Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and related treatments.

MBSC would like to thank Cork County Council for their generous support towards the recent refurbishment of our clubhouse, which has greatly enhanced our sailing facilities.

The works completed included:
- Installation of a new gas heating system.
- Upgraded women’s and men’s changing rooms.
- Full interior and exterior painting of the clubhouse.
- Removal of the old oil heating system and refurbishment of the courtyard area.

Without the support of Cork County Council, projects such as this would be extremely difficult to undertake. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers who generously gave their time and energy to make this project possible.

The 2025 Fireball World Championships kicked off today in Lake Garda. Well done to the Monkstown boats for making the trip to Italy and Best of luck with the rest of the event.
