St Michaels GAA The Official page of Premier Senior Football Club St Michaels based in Páirc Mhichíl Naofa.

The club was formed in 1951 after a discourse in the Leaping Salmon bar in Blackrock near Cork. At that time some of the Blackrock hurlers played football with different city teams and it was thought a good idea to enter a football team from Blackrock, thus keeping the players together. A formal meeting was held and St Michael's Gaelic Football Club was born.

Make sure to get down to Páirc Mhichíl Naofa on Sunday at noon to support the ladies Juniors in the County Semi Final. We have had great support across all Championship matches this year from the Girls , from Shanbally to Riverstick to Ballinlough , so it’s time to replicate that on Sunday morning and give them every chance to get to that County Final. They have invested a huge effort this year from management to players and they would love to see a big crowd in Páirc Mhichíl Naofa Sunday at noon

November 7th is only around the corner. We are trying to organise a great night but we need to know numbers. A typical Michaels night will be a great one , but also , like trying to get numbers for a Junior match on a Sunday morning, we are getting a typical St Michaels late response. We have nearly 200 confirmed already so we need to confirm ASAP. If you are going , singly , with a partner, or even want a table of 10 or more please let me know.

St Michaels 1-11 Nemo Rangers 1-07
Our Junior A team had a good win over Nemo tonight above in Ballinlough. A healthy St Michaels support were in attendance in what can easily be described as testing conditions. Robbie Cotter had us up and running after only two mins and although Nemo hit the next two scores after , we soon got into the groove and hit three points in as many minutes from Cotter , Deasy and Luke Fogarty. A Nemo free brought it back to a one point game before three unanswered Robbie Cotter points (1f) had us 0-07 to 0-03 in front at HT. As the crowd sought shelter from the incessant rain it wasn’t long before we were up and running again in the second half and a Dave Hogan piledriver somehow found itself in the Nemo net to give us a healthy lead. Robbie Cotter added another in between two Nemo points. Nemo don’t give up however and although they hit a few wides midway through the second period, a goal with 12 mins remaining left just three between us. A booming Tadgh Deasy two pointer eased the pressure and although Nemo added another , a Robbie Cotter free sealed the deal. Moment of the match however was a super block down from Captain Alan Nolan to deny Nemo an almost certain goal when there was only four in it with two mins remaining. Well done to management and players on a great win in brutal conditions. Thanks to Tony O’Sullivan for the photos.

We brought two teams to the Mick Goold U11 memorial tournament in Macroom this morning. The boys played some fantastic football with one team winning the cup final against Aghinagh and the other losing the shield final against Naomh Aban. The cup team was captained by Finn O’Dowd while Robert Walsh led the other team into the shield final. The future is bright.

Sunday is the big day now for our Senior team below in Riverstick. We have been plagued all year with injury and travel , the lads have responded and have given it their all for the St Michaels Jersey, both players and management. A reward for that honesty and endeavour would be a great result on the pitch on Sunday evening. In order to achieve that , we need to get behind the lads , so get down to Riverstick and support your club , your parish. It would be fantastic to see a big crowd there. All those young lads last week , in Feile , in Minor ,U16…. all the ways down to our academy , they are the future …. The very best of luck to Hughie , Cormac , Niall , Danny , Declan and all the players on a Sunday
