Great weekend at the Top Ten British Open and Body Power Expo in Birmingham . Took Bronze, however I learned a valuable lesson in the process of doing so. But my highlight of the weekend was coaching my student Louisa Heckett who entered 4 divisions. Unfortunately she injured her leg badly in the black belt category and couldn't continue . Was this going to stop her.....NO. She went into the intermediate section and won her first fight . During her 2nd fight at 4 all and 30 sec to go she took a kick to the leg which put her out again . Medics , ice and strapped she was determined to fight in the section she wanted most, the ladies vets. Moving forward she maxed her first opponent . During the final at 4 all the pain became unbearable and we stopped the fight taking silver. This lady has the heart of a lion and was one of my proudest moments as a coach.
