U12 Division 4 - Corkbeg 4 Rathcormac 3
It’s hard to fathom that a team would try so hard to win a game while at the same time doing their level best to lose it .
Corkbeg went behind to a well struck penalty and then took a while to settle into any sort of pattern of play . We got on level terms when Issac Logue set up Hunter McCrae for a powerful finish from the captain . 1-1.
Tomas Day was getting a lot of excellent crosses in from the right wing and from one of those deliveries, Jack Dineen did well to control the ball and smash it to the net from close range . So , 2-1 up, at home, and all the Aghada and Saleen Ultras were happy on the grassy bank.
The main focus of the pep talk at half time was on adding to the lead …. so that went out the window when Rathcormac got back on level terms . 2-2. We had several good chances for a third goal but had to wait until David O’Riordan controlled the ball brilliantly in the box, was patient enough to wait for an opening and then struck the ball terrifically to the bottom corner of the net. 3-2.
Time for composure and to keep possession … well that lasted all of about 80 seconds …. until Rathcormac equalised . 3-3 now. Not naming names … but ‘certain members’ of the coaching staff were bordering on hyperventilating . But in fairness to the Corkbeg lads they really wanted the three points to climb into third in the table. So they stuck at it and it was no surprise when the hard working Sam McCarthy set up David for his second goal of the game . 4-3.
To be fair it really was a “ 14 man performance’ with players interchanging as needed. But a big shout out to Justin O’Leary in goals for some really vital blocks and clearances and a stand out ‘did he really just do that’ last gasp sliding tackle from Ronan Larkin after which he was straight up and launching an attack.
So 3 points, third in the league and still in contention in the last 32 of the cup , well done to the lads on showing serious determination and character and thanks to Rathcormac for pushing the lads all the way.

Corinthians Cup: Kilbrittain 0 Corkbeg 12
A comprehensive victory for the lads on Saturday afternoon at Kilbrittain Community Centre - a new club record, we think.
Notable for the debut of two of our U-18 team lads, Josh McCarthy (pictured) & Jamie Walsh. Josh scored two goals on his first full competitive game for Corkbeg.
Also among the goals on Saturday afternoon were Jordan Tynan(3), Alan Hogan(3), Mark Hogan(2), Ashton Hannaway and Fionn Keohane.
Best wishes too to Jordan Tynan who sustained a nasty looking injury and will be out for a number of weeks, if not months.
This result means that the lads now play Grattan Utd B next Sunday morning at O Neill Park in the semi final of the Corinthians Cup

Corkbeg U13 - Match Reports.
A trio of away fixtures saw the Beg travel to Ballyanley, Carrigaline and Ringmahon in league and cup fixtures respectively.
Sat 16th saw a trip away to Strand Utd on a blustery morning where both teams struggled to come to terms with the conditions, the Beg arguably the better of the two teams.
The Beg were denied three great opportunities by some fine goalkeeping by the home team.
A 0-0 draw on the day securing a valuable league point on the road.
Monday 18th saw an away trip to Carrigaline on a rain soaked windy night for football.
The Beg came up against a well drilled home side who incredibly are hovering over the bottom of the division 3 table despite their recent run of games.
The Beg were 2-0 down at halftime but the second half the lads produced a superb performance to get back into the game and unlucky not to secure a draw, shay scored a banger of a penalty to bring it to 2-1 and Olan, Josh, Sean, Ronel were very unlucky to not score.
There it ended at 2-1, two more games to go in a keenly contested division 3, with the lads in a shake up for promotion.
Mon 25th saw an away trip to take on Ringmahon Rangers in the U13 Founders Cup with a place in the last 16 up for grabs,
The cup tie didn’t disappoint, a delayed kickoff, yellow cards, goals, handbags and fading light were all on the menu!
Special mention to Tom Corcoran who stood into goals and kept a clean sheet on the night.
The game itself was keenly contested affair seeing plenty thrills and spills that comes along in the cup.
Both sides locked at 0-0 at the break, some badly needed refreshments were taken onboard on a hot balmy night.
Olan popped up just after the restart seeing him finish an absolute beauty from the edge of the box , the clever assist from Oisin playing in the 10 role.
Ciarán provided the next assist for Olan, to see him get his second of the night with a very smart finish low to the keepers right,
Beg 2-0 up.
The loss of two goals sparked the home side into another gear but the travelling team weren’t having any of it, the lads dug deep and closed out the game in a very professional manner despite the man in black having to step in to issue a few cards to calm proceedings (!)
Beg into the next round against Div 2 table toppers Park Utd on Saturday 30th.
Speedy recovery to Leon and Alex both out due to injuries ⚽️💪🏻
