It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of John Saunders, a much-loved member of and long time Trustee of Leevale Athletic Club.

John was a superb athlete and a true Leevale man through and through. He was part of a golden generation of the 70’s who brought great pride to the club, enjoying tremendous success and contributing to an era that saw Leevale win three consecutive National League titles.

Beyond his athletic achievements, John’s enthusiasm, loyalty, and friendship left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His love for athletics and his club never waned, and his memory will remain deeply woven into the fabric of Leevale’s history.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Emer, his sister Mary, and to all his family and friends.

Rest in peace, old friend.
