Knowing that mistakes are learning opportunities can take time to truly believe. Having to work through difficult moments or learn new skills by trial and error can allow for deeper understanding than when someone gives you a solution or you get a skill on you first try without knowing how you did it

In a sport that has a large number of girls and women involved we are always trying to ensure that the voice of females is included in discussions relating to sport in Ireland.

You may have noticed the information Sport Ireland has just released on the Report and Hackathon. The more people Sport Ireland have interested in helping to create ideas for teenage girls the better. More information available on their website. https://www.sportireland.ie/women-in-sport

There is a space for all kinds of people in our sport no matter your
age,
gender identity,
skin colour,
sexual orientation,
height,
weight,
skill level,
competitiveness,
confidence,
language
or any other aspect of yourself that you feel means you will not fit in or be welcomed.

Taking the time to look at those at the top of the sport to see who is on the scene and listening to interviews or social media of these athletes will help you see how much variety exists and still allows your to take part in the sport you are interested in.

Can you identify something small you are doing at the moment that is going to help you to get to your larger goal? Is it playing with your siblings to build strong relationships with your family that you want to last through life? Is it exercising for a few minutes so that you keep mobility and movement in your body to allow you to move through life the way you want to? Is doing some school work because you want to be confident in a subject because it is an area that you want to study and work in later in life?

WE have all probably come across this saying but refocusing our mindset to what is within our control really help when managing worries and anxieties that are often based in the future or in areas that are outside of our control

Covid has meant we have lost out on many things across all areas of life. Shifting our focus on what we still have and can still do can help us stay strong and manage to stay safe in this uncertain time.

Mallow Gymnastics

Mallow Gymnastics provides classes for both recreational and competitive gymnasts. Our recreational classes focus on fun, fitness and the fundamental skills of gymnastics. We aim to create a safe, progressive and fun environment for all!

Our club competes in tumbling. Tumbling is a very old sport and has in the past been a part of the Olympics. The sport as we know it today takes place on a track where the power comes from the sprung or carbon fibre floor, which allow the gymnast to do very fast and explosive routines. Tumbling is characterised by continuous linked acrobatic elements. A routine consists of skills from feet to feet or feet-hands-feet, has to show power, speed and rhythm, must be executed with good style and has to land under control.
