The best things in life aren't planned ♡

As I’m turning 40 in February, I’ve found myself reflecting on the last ten years. And what I’ve realised is that the best things that happened weren’t planned.

I think we can take some of the pressure off ourselves and learn to be a little more relaxed, trusting, and open to letting life lead us. Letting go of the need to control everything, to be perfect all the time, and instead trusting that good things are ahead.

I’m curious — can you relate? What opportunities, situations, or people have shown up for you unexpectedly?

Have a lovely weekend 💫
Love, Kim

♡ Sunday ♡

Sundays are my favourite. No plans… just spacious time to myself, cuddles with Freddie, meditation, long walks, and plenty of nature. And lately, I’m absolutely loving yoga nidra 🙌✨

What helps you recharge and reconnect?

Love,
Kim

Safety vs Aliveness

Life isn’t always easy. I believe it’s a continuous search for balance — between doing what is needed to feel safe and doing what makes you feel alive.

At the moment, I am doing a little bit of coaching but I have been working fultime for the last few months in another job. I wasn’t earning enough before, so I decided to take on this temporary role to build up some savings. As it turns out, the job is actually very interesting and I do enjoy it. But lately, I’ve noticed that when I have time off, I feel more tired, irritable, and less inspired than before.

I don’t have much energy left for coaching, personal growth, or mindfulness practice, and I can feel my inner fire slowly starting to fade. Even though it’s not a bad job at all, and I feel more secure because of the money, I know deep down that something needs to change.

The other day, while in the shower, I had a thought about positive thinking — how sometimes we use it to avoid making changes. We remind ourselves of all the good things we have so that we don’t have to take action and can stay in our comfort zone.

As someone with a sensitive system, my body and mind have always sent me clear messages about where I need to be — or not. But I just never listened. I had to learn that I can trust them. They push me in the right direction, but they also ask me to be brave: to follow my passions and my desire to do meaningful work. Because everything else, no matter how good it looks on the outside, feels like a waste of time.

To truly feel alive, we need to find the courage to listen — to our body’s signals, our intuition, the little whispers telling us something isn’t right — and then take action.

Do you recognise this? Do you feel tired, like your spark is fading or you’re just surviving? Do you long for a life that feels purposeful, fulfilling, and truly alive, but don’t know how to move forward?

As a life coach, I can support you in this. Together, we can discover what’s missing for you, uncover what you truly desire, and work through fears and limiting beliefs so you can start taking empowered action.

I’d love to hear from you — and we can arrange a free clarity call.

What would you do, say, or think if you no longer had to constantly prove or protect yourself?

What would be different?
What would it feel like?
What would be possible?
What risks would you take?
How would your relationships change?

If only we weren’t so controlled by the ego mind—how much freer could we be?

The ego plays an important role: it keeps us safe and ensures our needs are met. But when we try to please it all the time, we get stuck in patterns and behaviours that once protected us or gave us the love and attention we longed for, but now hold us back.

Learning to calm the ego is, I believe, one of the most powerful things we can do—for ourselves and the world. It helps us see from a wider perspective, deepen our connection to ourselves and others, and experience more meaning and well-being in life.

I'll soon will share a blogpost about it!

It’s Sunday morning—my day off. Most of the house jobs were done yesterday, but I feel stressed?! Knowing I have to go back to work tomorrow, my head is full of all the shoulds—all the things I should think about and should do.

I feel restless, and I feel bad about it, since this is supposed to be a day of rest, play, and relaxation. Can anyone else relate? This seems to be my default setting. In my head, there are tons of things that suddenly feel super important to get done.

Luckily, I’m aware enough to notice what’s going on. Instead of going into a frantic, frustrated mode of doing all the things I think I’m supposed to do, I make myself sit down (with a bit of resistance). I observe what’s happening and allow it to be—but the sense of urgency I feel, again and again, when something comes up is very strong.

I remind myself: There is nothing I have to do right now. Nothing is that important.

Half an hour later, things have calmed down. The thoughts slowly start to lose their grip on me. After that, I went for a lovely walk with my dog, chatted to people in the park, the sun came out unexpectedly—and I’m feeling so grateful and relaxed.

Now I can start my Sunday ♡

The Mind Is Everything

Due to partial facial paralysis I only made it to the morning of the 5th day of the Vipassana retreat. No worries my face is looking a lot better and should recover fully with time.

Anyway it meant I still had the opportunity to meditate for 40 hours in the 4 days prior. It was so good to experience again what it is like to have a clear mind. To have time to just sit with what is, without having any responsibilities or distractions. Learning to relax even in discomfort is so liberating.

I think it's one of the best things you can do for yourself. Particularly if your conditioned mind is limiting you. (Your patterns and beliefs)

S.N. Goenka, who brought Vipassana meditation to millions, speaks very profoundly about the mind. He says: "Mind precedes all phenomena. Mind matters most. Everything is mind-made."

Our inner reality — our happiness, misery, peace, restlessness — is created by our own mind, not by external things. He taught that if you purify the mind, you purify your life.

Some key things he teaches about the mind are:

❥The mind is constantly reacting: He says the mind continuously reacts to sensations in the body — with craving if it’s pleasant, and aversion if it’s unpleasant — often at an unconscious level.

❥ The mind is very powerful but also very unruly: Without training, it easily gets carried away by habits of craving, aversion, and ignorance, leading to suffering.

❥ Purification of the mind is essential: Through observing sensations without reacting, we can purify the mind, breaking old habit patterns and developing equanimity.

❥ Mind and matter are interconnected: Goenka emphasizes that mind and body influence each other deeply — mental impurities generate physical sensations, and sensations in turn condition the mind.

❥ Awareness and equanimity are key: By developing awareness and equanimity, the mind becomes calm, balanced, and free.

I'm so lucky to have worked with this lovely lady and receiving this beautiful review! 💛

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've recently completed 8 sessions with Kim and it's been a very supportive and insightful experience. Back in November 2024, I came across Kim's blog about the importance of listening and I felt called to reach out as I was looking for space where I felt heard. Kim was able to provide this space really well and much more - I learned how to listen to myself better in the process, uncovered unhealthy patterns that were affecting my work life and started taking steps to change that. I felt comfortable to show up in the sessions exactly as I was, and found that the sessions were always tailored to support it - gentle when I felt particularly low or overwhelmed, but more challenging and goal oriented when motivation and energy levels allowed it. Kim was able to consistently feed back what she was hearing, which felt really validating. But she also helped uncover and name feelings, motives etc that were outside of my awareness, helping me gain deeper understanding of myself. Sessions felt well structured and flexible with extra time provided as needed, which helped me feel important and cared for. Kim's support, empathy and encouragement have been invaluable in the last few months that felt particularly difficult at times. I'm feeling a lot more motivated, positive and trusting regarding the future. I highly recommend Kim to anyone interested in trying out life coaching.

Self Trust

What I see in many of my clients is that they don’t trust themselves.

They don’t trust themselves to follow through on what they say they’ll do—because they’ve disappointed themselves too many times. They’ve broken promises to themselves, giving in to distractions or stronger urges. Or they’ve ignored their intuition, their body’s signals, and their inner wisdom for so long and they’ve stayed in situations that weren’t right for them.

They no longer believe they can trust themselves to make the right decisions.

But self-trust is crucial for creating a fulfilling life that aligns with who you truly are. When you trust yourself, you stop seeking external validation, second-guessing your choices, or feeling paralysed by fear of failure. Instead, you build confidence, resilience, and the clarity to navigate challenges.

So, how do you start rebuilding self-trust?

✨ Start small.
Take manageable steps that you know you can follow through on. Have someone who holds you accountable and cheers you on. And yes, push yourself a little for that extra boost of confidence.

✨ Trust your feelings first—before your head takes over.
We put so much emphasis on logic, but our minds are shaped by our conditioning. Your inner knowing speaks through emotions and sensations in your body. Pay attention to your first reaction to something.

For example, maybe the thought of applying for that new job fills you with excitement and joy—before your inner critic jumps in with all the reasons why it’s a bad idea and you don't have what it takes. Or perhaps your mind tells you to stick with something because it’s the “safe” or “reasonable” choice, yet your whole body tenses up and tells you: No, I don’t want this!

Trust that something in you knows better than you can comprehend with your logical mind. Start listening to yourself so you can learn to trust yourself again.

If you feel you could do with some help with building self trust and unravelling your conditioning and limiting beliefs that keep you stuck, please contact me for a free introductory call.

I wish you all a beautiful weekend!

Lots of love, Kim 🌻
