A huge well done to Megan B***r on completing her first Ironman 70.3 in Cascais at the weekend !

Set in beautiful Cascais, Portugal, just outside Lisbon, this is a challenging course from start to finish. The day began with a 1.9km swim around the bay, completed in 49 minutes, before heading out on a 90km bike course. The bike starts with some serious hills into the mountains, before descending around the iconic Formula One circuit and heading out towards Lisbon and back (not to mention the winds !). Megan got round the bike in 3hrs 32minsπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

The final challenge was a two-lap run around Cascais and out along the stunning coastline, taking on the hills in what turned out to be a very warm day. That didn’t stop Megan though as she completed the run in 2:03 and ran up the iconic red carpet in 6hrs 36minsβ˜€οΈπŸ”₯

With approximately 5,500 athletes taking part across the 70.3 and full Ironman events, it was a fantastic atmosphere but a great day out !

That closes out the 2026 season for Hell Yeah Triathlon Club. See you all next yearπŸ’ͺ🏻

The 34km Sprint consisted of a 5.5km run followed by a 28.5km bike, a tough challenge and a fantastic way for Hugh to finish his season on a high.

Congratulations also to Donna Boyle, Michelle Ferguson and Eileen Harkin on completing the race alongside Hugh. Great racing, everyone! πŸ™Œ

And with that, Hugh’s season is wrapped up β€” what a way to finish !

It’s been a busy few weeks for the club latelyπŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Yesterday we had 7 athletes take on the Metalman Swim Series in Mullaghmore, Sligo. The last few weekends have been busy with getting the training in across Carrickfin beach in some tough conditions for this race. The race consisted of 3 different distances with the 1km, 2km, and 3km swims.

Katie Bowe completed her first ever open water race in the 1km in a great time of 28:12. Megan B***r and Terence Gallagher took on the 2km swim with Megan coming in at 44:22 and Terence at 47:40. Next up was the 3km race with Niamh O’Donnell finishing under the hour in 57:05, Tricia Ward was next at 1:03:15, Roisin Bonner home in 1:03:28, and Hugh Bonner in 1:04:34.

We also had Megan B***r take on the Liam Ball Sprint Triathlon in Derry at the end of May. The sprint distance consists of a 750m swim, 20km bike, and a 5km run. Megan finished 2nd in her age group in a time of 1:33:43πŸ™ŒπŸ»
