I don’t think I’ve quite figured out how to make sense of the last 8 years with my knee, and the 4 surgeries that came with it
For a long time, I’ve been so focused on what it’s taken from me, what I’ve had to give up, and what my future as an athlete might look like
More recently, I’ve found myself facing a new worry - what it might mean for my future professionally🫠
But two conversations this week have given me a different perspective, and honestly, I’m excited about it
The possibility of specialising in ACL rehabilitation is something I want to explore properly. Not because I’ve been through it myself and think that automatically qualifies me to help others, but because the science behind it genuinely interests me, and I can see how my academic background, biomechanics research, S&C experience and lived experience could come together
There’s a hell of a lot to learn, and I’m only at the beginning. But I’m ready to immerse myself in the science, put the work in and see where I can take it
I can’t change what’s happened, and I’m not going to pretend it’s all happened for a reason because it’s still sh*t
But maybe I can use what I’ve learned along the way to help someone else navigate their own journey
For now, that’s an exciting enough place to start💙
