Hi everyone,
We are getting close and almost on the final countdown, this is probably not the message you have been waiting for …… 😊
As a runner myself one thing I can not stand is getting a race day email with all the race day announcements do and do not it’s the last thing you want to read so I’ll make it very easy and simple……
First off—Thank you to everyone for signing up without you this event would not be possible and we are delighted to welcome you to the 2026 Dublin mountain Backyard 6th edition
The event is scheduled for Saturday, 9th May
Starting Time: 12:00 (midday)
The starting time is all you need to know that’s the most important thing
• Location: unknown 😊 you’ll just have to find it yourself
• Gates open at 10:00am (early arrivals will be judged silently)
• Parking is limited, so carpool if you can
• Park where you’re told, not where your heart tells you,and do not park like the car is robbed as we have had this experience before and we’ll keep that story for another day..
• Crew is allowed, but again—less cars, more brains car pool if possible
• No parking on the road unless you fancy explaining it later
Event Rules this is the serious part
• No hiking poles
• No headphones
• No on-course assistance
• No pacers, motivators, life coaches.
Break these and you’re out,it’s over your going home.
Race Format:
Before the race begins you will be issued a
• 3 min, 2 min, 1 min warnings… then go
• Not in the start corral on time -
You’re done. No speeches. It’s over..
• Finish inside the hour and be ready to go again…
Course Notes:
• The course will be marked out by foot prints lol 😂
• You’ll have a GPS—if you find one already out there from last year, please return it, it’s probably still recording someone’s meltdown
• If you get lost, just keep running—you’ll either find the course or a new life
Facilities:
• Hot water and microwaves available
• “Last Lap Café” on site (name becomes more ironic as the hours go on)
• Water stations on course… well… don’t rely on it unless it rains
Toilets well in emergency use your brain 😂😂
What to Bring:
• Trail shoes (and backups for when they betray you)
• Spare socks (your future self will thank you)
• All-weather gear (this is Ireland, not Spain)
• Fully charged phone + battery pack
• Mandatory waterproof jacket
• Headtorch (because yes, it will get dark… and emotional)
Camping:
• You can pitch a tent in the designated area
• Or just lie down somewhere and question your life choices
Race Pack:
• Race number + T-shirt on the day
• Your race number = the number beside your name on Facebook (we trust you can find yourself)
Event T-shirt from Temu (do not wash ever )
Emergency Info:
• Emergency numbers are… optimistic
• If things go really wrong, Tallaght Hospital is only about a 15-minute roll down the hill—just pick a good line
Final Notes:
• Check the weather (then ignore it like everyone else)
• Bring sunscreen, a rain jacket, and possibly emotional support
• At some point, you will wonder why you signed up—this is normal
All jokes aside, we’re genuinely looking forward to seeing you all at basecamp on Saturday, 9th May. It’ll be tough, slightly chaotic, and absolutely brilliant.
Please keep a eye on your emails we will email you over the race day information in the next week with links for parking and final details, more or less above is all you need do know
Best of luck……..
Kind regards,
Noel Ward

We are delighted to announce that, after a great deal of consideration, we have reached a resolution.
In the end, it was simple — we went back to the very beginning, pressed reset, and refocused on the true purpose behind what we created with the Backyard All-Ireland event.
As many of you are aware, the organisers of the Galway Backyard have chosen to come under the umbrella of IMRA. We want to be absolutely clear: we have the utmost respect for the work IMRA does and the dedication they show in organising events across Ireland. Our issue was never with IMRA, but with the organisers of the Galway event, due to a lack of communication and respect shown towards ourselves and other backyard organisers. Once this trust was broken, we had no other option but to disengage from that arrangement.
With that said, we have worked tirelessly to find a way forward. In doing so, we returned to the original reason this event was created — to bring people together from the four provinces of Ireland, to take part in sport, enjoy the outdoors, and reconnect with nature. That vision remains unchanged, and it is something we will not walk away from.
We are proud to announce a new event for 2027:
The All Ireland Celtic Silver Plate Backyard
The first edition will take place in 2027, and the event will be held every two years thereafter.
This event will be held on a neutral course the good news it’s a flat course no hills
We would like to clarify that the organisers of the Galway Backyard are not affiliated with this event in any way
However, any individual who participates in that event is still eligible to take part in the Celtic Silver Plate Backyard, as outlined above.
Registration when open will be open to everyone
We look forward to bringing this vision to life and to seeing athletes from all four provinces come together in the true spirit of backyard running.

Hi everyone
As you all know the Dublin Mountain BYU including this years event sells out pretty fast and unfortunately we limit tickets to 100-120 for all known reasons previously explained
We usually lauch the tickets after the event as demand is high and tickets are again limited so the 2027 event is officially open for registration with a 20 % discount valid for two weeks emails have been sent out and advertised across social media networks since yesterday so we do expect similar response towards another successful event so get your s**t together secure your place put your head down roll up your sleeves and you have plenty of time to prepare…
We hope this post finds you all well, injury-free, and that your training is going to plan. If not… there’s still plenty of time to panic.
As many of you know, this year’s Dublin Mountain Backyard sold out once again, and registration for the 2027 event is now officially open.
Next year marks the 7th edition of the event, and each year we continue to improve and evolve while keeping participant numbers at a manageable level. The event will once again be capped at 100–120 runners.
As one of our previous participants/supporters, we are delighted to offer you an exclusive 20% discount code, valid for two weeks from today.
Discount Code:
DMEARLY2750
Enter the code during registration and the discount will automatically apply.
After two weeks, the code expires… and unfortunately so does your excuse for “meaning to sign up later.”
Think You’re Tough Enough?
If you’re looking for a real challenge in 2027, we can personally assure you… this is not your average run in the park.
We have created three courses in one event, specifically designed to test:
• your legs,
• your lungs,
• your mental strength,
• and at some point… probably your life choices.
The event begins at 12 midday on Saturday 8th May 2027.
You’ll start on the original Dublin Mountain Backyard course from 12pm–9pm, but throughout the day you may be called upon—without warning—to tackle a brand-new additional course.
Here’s the catch:
You’ll get no notice when it’s coming.
It may appear after 2 hours…
It may appear after 4 hours…
It may appear just when you’ve convinced yourself things are going well.
Then from 9pm–10pm, runners will move to an out-and-back night course, continuing through the darkness until sunrise before returning to Day 2 and doing it all over again.
Basically… imagine a backyard ultra designed by runners who thought,
“How can we make this even worse?”
And then we did.
If that sounds exciting to you—welcome aboard.
If reading this made you uncomfortable and you’d rather spend your weekend under a blanket watching Netflix, that’s perfectly okay too…
This email may not be for you.
But if you want to test yourself, leave your comfort zone, and take on one of the most mentally and physically demanding endurance events around, then we would love to see you on the start line.
You have plenty of time to prepare for the world’s toughest backyard
The decision is yours.
Two weeks until the discount expires.
After that, full price applies.
And if previous years are anything to go by, we expect another sell-out event.
On behalf of our club and chosen charity, thank you for your continued support.
We look forward to welcoming you to the start line in 2027…
Assuming you’re brave enough.
