With the kind cooperation of Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club (CY&BC) we are building the boat in our boat shed in Clontarf. It has been over 35 years since a new timber IDRA14 was built. This boat will be true to the original design but built for racing in the 21st century. We are grateful for any assistance or advice you may have to offer, and we are especially interested if anyone has plans from wh

Time flies, Happy 6th birthday Wicked Sadie! Few recent pics of Wicked Sadie, introducing rookie crew to the joys of dinghy sailing!

We thought we had finished with updates but one last update: During the summer we had some special guests from RTE Nationwide visit the club to talk to the IDRA14 newbuild team and see Wicked Sadie in action on the water. On Wednesday 26 at 7pm on RTE1 everyone will be able to see the results. And yes, for those who know their flags, on the day, Peter Reilly welcomed our visitors in style by spelling out Nationwide on the flag poll!

All good things come to an end, usually tinged with a hint of sadness, but in this case it is with a sense of joy that I am ending our idra14newbuild page as "Wicked Sadie" is built and her adventures are just beginning.

I feel very strongly that I am speaking to lots of people out there because of three very special, hard working amazing ladies who have kept you all informed about our project culminating in a wonderful celebration when we launched 14/166 on the 25th of June 2016.

They are:
Louise Coulter

Louise took on the role of PR from the very beginning, setting up our pages and gmail and visiting us in the shed regularly to collect material and write our build updates.
Take a bow Louise.

Suzanne Collins
Suzanne used her talents as a campaign manager to plan and execute to perfection Wicked Sadie's launch day.
Fantastic job Suzanne

Lorraine Smith - the other half of Wicked Sadie's crew.
Lorraine was the "glue" that bound all the pieces together, working tirelessly on project Wicked Sadie keeping the build team on schedule and making sure every detail for the build and the launch was in order. Lorraine has also been my dedicated 'super crew' over the past few years and will take this special journey forward with me on Wicked Sadie.

Lorraine we couldn't have done it without you.

And so, we bring this 166newbuild page to a close as Wicked Sadie is no longer a lonely anonymous collection of planks but a living boat having been fully christened and welcomed with open arms into the IDRA 14 Community.

What more could a newbie want on its first day than to be surrounded by other established friends in the same class and such was our launch day, IDRAs galore, beautifully and proudly on show to the world.

So going forward, the adventures of Wicked Sadie will be captured in the IDRA 14 page and the 166newbuild page will be no more, coming to it's natural conclusion.

All build updates can still be referred to on the IDRA 14 page as can all the fantastic launch photos.

Thank you and fair winds, dear friends, and see you all at the Nationals!
