Carmel was on our email list for nearly 2 years before she ever walked through the SF Fitness doors
Like a lot of people…
She knew she should do something.
But wasn’t sure if it was for her.
When she did start, she wasn’t looking for anything extreme.
She just wanted to:
✔ Feel stronger
✔ Move better
✔ Feel more comfortable in her body
At the time…
Bending down felt stiff and awkward
She felt very inflexible
She’d had a previous neck strain from lifting at work
And knee surgery a few years earlier
So there was always that thought:
👉 “I need to be careful…”
Fast forward 4 months…
She’s:
✔ Stronger than she’s been in years
✔ Moving freely
✔ Confident bending, lifting, and training
She can touch her toes with ease.
She’s no longer afraid of lifting weights.
And recently…
She took part in a charity fitness challenge with us — helping raise nearly €14,000 for The Irish Cancer Society.
All because she trusted her body again — and trusted us to prepare her for it.
That’s the difference.
It’s not about pushing harder.
It’s about going from:
👉 “I’m not sure I can…”
to
👉 “I know I can.”

Most people I speak to don’t say they’re in pain.
It’s something else.
👉 Stiff
👉 Sluggish
👉 Not moving like they used to
And that changes more than people realise.
You think twice about things.
You take the easier option.
You avoid situations that might be a bit too much.
Not because you want to…
But because everything just feels that bit harder.
And coming into summer…
That matters.
More time outside.
More time with family.
More chances to be active.

There’s a moment that creeps up on people.
Not all at once…
Just subtle enough that you almost ignore it.
Opening a jar.
Getting up off the couch.
Walking up the stairs.
Nothing major.
Just… harder.
Then you start to notice it more.
Bending down feels stiff.
Carrying things feels heavier.
You hesitate before getting down on the floor.
Not because you can’t…
But because you’re not sure how it’ll feel.
And slowly, without realising it…
You start saying no more than you say yes.
That’s usually the point people think:

Most people think getting results means pushing harder.
Keeping up with others
Being shouted out

That was Harry.

👶 My two-year-old reminded me of something most adults forget.
Whenever she’s trying something difficult she says:
“I can do hard things.” 💪
No hesitation.
No doubt.
Somewhere along the way as adults we lose that.
We start telling ourselves:
“I’m too unfit.”
“I’m too old.”
“Gyms aren’t for people like me.”
But every member we have once felt the same.
They didn’t start confident.
They started by simply deciding to try.
And then they realised…
💪 They could do hard things too.

The average age in these photos is far higher than your average gym goer.
But then again, these aren't your average gym goers
These people joined SF Fitness to look after their health, to safe guard their future
When they started, they were unsure and even fearful of whether they could do it
Now they realise it's not about what others do, it's about what you CAN do
