A corner has finally been turned adding yet another twist to the tale in the never ending story that is this years super league.. After beginning the season on a high with 4 games unbeaten we came to The first weekend of March before registering another win, our poor form is being blamed by the fans and pundits alike on the greed of the agents of certain players with them placing bans on their players playing games at weekends giving reasons such as "You never want to see me anymore" "Its the stupid Vet soccer isn't it" "If you play I'm leaving you" "you can find a new agent if you go" and so on... A corner has been turned and it has been turned due to the bravery of the 8 men who decided to encounter the snow head on (or didn't read the forecast and realise the blizzard that was given was going to happen). With a team of 8 Vet FC looked down up against it before the game had even begun against the might of the CSSA team. With 8 men Vet FC deployed a flat 7 across the back with Billy Foley the custodian who drew warmth from his derriere. This flat 8 eventually turned into a 3-3-1 due to the early fatigue of some players in this fast paced game. Despite having much of the possession it was the China men who opened the scoring with a pass squared across the goal. Despite this Vet FC continued to dominate and scored a quick 4 goals before the referee called time with similar controversy to the All Ireland SHC semi final 1998 where the game was called to a supposed premature halt. Despite the protest and rioting from the fans the result stands and Vet FC have finally overcome their winless streak. Goals on the day from Mark Murray, Ross Beirne, Jack Finnegan and Sean O Brien

And so comes the end of 2018 with the new season well and underway.. A season so far in what can only be compared with the intimate experiences of a female with one of our players... started full of excitement and promise but ultimately after the 1st few minutes.. i mean games became more and more disappointing. After going unbeaten in our first 4 games we went the next 4 without winning in what has been a lackluster mid season, the fans, similar to Manchester United fans, call for Mourinho to be instigated as manager and to play an exciting brand football "The Vet FC way".. yes very contradicting but that is the mind of the modern day football fan.. yet some fans remain old school and loyal with one fan in particular hurling passionate abuse at a referee only to receive a 5 game ban.

Anyway as we pause for the winter break I urge you all to have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Our players will be touring in all 4 provinces of the country and hopefully your encounter with them will not go the same way as the season has.. thrilling at first but completely unsatisfying

We will have our annual pub quiz to raise funds for the insurance and registration of the team the first week back after Xmas. Teams of 4, 20 euro a team. Raffle on the night and with MC Brian Fanning. A great warm up for Vet ball with all your favourite Vet FC stars present on the night and some free drink on the night*.

Like many of our players this Christmas we are also on the market any new signings. Feel free to contact us and receive a signing on fee which includes a 6 pack of Harp* and one of Eamon Breen's half time f**s*.

See you in the new year.

*There will not in fact be any signing on fee.
*You will need to provide Eamonn Breen with a fag at half time
*The stars may be blocked out by Billy's moon on the night..
*Caution Vet FC superstars may be in fact flaming not shining, avoid close contact if possible.
*There not be free drink on the night

Despite some of our players compiling explicit scouting reports across the water in Nottingham this weekend we managed a big win this weekend as we expressed our inner Donald Trump to beat the United Nations 3-2 and maintain our unbeaten status after 4 games... Goals from Joe Crispell (2) and Declan Stack.

"CORBETT SCREAMER AS VETS BEAT YOUNG GIRLS"

A new look Vet FC side made a promising start to the new season with a 4-3 win over Young Girls FC, yes thats right we beat young girls...

In an enthralling contest, the Young Girls side soon discovered the physicality and kicking ability of our defense and also their lack of interest in where the ball actually is. Patrick Sweeney in particular impressing by body checking several young girls throughout the game.. Vet Fc took the lead early with a traditionally scrappy goal from a corner kick which was eventually flicked in by the "White Heskey" Declan Stack. This lead was short-lived as the vets soon found ourselves trailing 2-1. However they quickly reverted to the traditional Vet FC tactic of route one football from kick outs which eventually paid dividends with emergency loanee Dan Tobin MVB getting on the end of a flick on and playing a throughball to Stack who dispatched subclinically. With a team talk consisting of Cans of Harp, McGregor and an inspiring story from Tobin of how he scored last night giving even the weakest players hope.
The second half kicked off poorly with an error from Loris Karius impersonator Billy Foley. Trailing 3-2 the vets had almost lost hope when they looked to the East at dawn on the 15th minute and saw James Butler who had just finished his evening weekend checks. He soon slotted in at left back and took the form of a young Gareth Bale. Andy Corbett who took time off from being a feedlot baron, put in an industrious display and score a 30 yard worldie to level the match at 3-3. With the final moments of the game Dan Tobin was hacked down inside the box. It is unknown as to whether he fell due to contact, excessive consumption of premium irish lager the night previous or his ongoing Mitral Valve Disease. A controversial penalty was given which was converted by Stack giving Vet FC a last minute win. James Butler recieved the supervalue man of the match award for his role as in impact sub. He gave a short interview with "we were down 3-2 when i came on and we won 4-3, i think that speaks for itself about my impact on the game"

Team and Scores: B. Foley; S. O'Brien, P. Hastings, P. Sweeney, O. Finnegan; J. Barron, J. Crispell, A. Corbett (1), D. Davies; D. Tobin, D. Stack (3).

J Finnegan for D Davies, B. Fanning for Sweeney, J Butler for O Finnegan

Finally managed to get a team picture of the lads this year, only took us the entire season to get one. Been an absolute pleasure to play with these boys and every one of them has been fantastic from start to finish! A vast improvement on last year where we only got 6 points, we managed 25 this time around and will be certainly after more again next year!

Great 3-2 win over Fritzl Palace today in terrible conditions. Two wins from the last 3 games now. Starting to build momentum. Looking good for the new year!
