Congrats to SID’s Cearbhall Daly who scored a double win in the Fireball fleet in Sunday’s Frostbite races. Cearbhall joined another Fireball veteran Frank Miller as crew for the last races of the season, with the pair scoring back to back first places in the Fireball class, and scoring a third in the overall PY fleet for the first race. A great way to end the racing season! 🎉

You are cordailly invited to the launch of a new revised edition of Jarlath Cunnane's book 'Northabout' in the Poolbeg Yacht and Boat Club on Thursday December 21st. at 8.00. p.m.
Jarlath and his crew have sailed through both the Northwest and the Northeast Passages, in a yacht called 'Northabout' that he built himself.
In addition, Jarlath and his friends have replicated Ernest Shackleton's Incredible journey, from Elephant Island to South Georgia, in the Antarctic,
in a replica called 'South Arís' of Shackleton's small ship's boat called the 'James Caird'. There are fascinating accounts of all of these journeys and much new information
in this new revised edition.
Jarlath will be showing a short film on the night of their transit through the White Sea Canal.

Ireland’s Ruffian 23 sailors - including five current and former SID members - bring home the 2023 Jubilee Interport Trophy following a closely-fought regatta in Hong Kong 🎉🏁

The Irish team had the time of their lives in five edgy races and a more leisurely passage race along Hong Kong’s beautiful coastline. And it all happened in the 50th anniversary of the first Ruffian being built.

Plans are already being hatched for the Hong Kong team to return for a rematch in Ireland in 2026 😁

Our members on fireballs during the DBSC races yesterday. Perfect racing conditions. And Mayfly took part in the coastal ISORA last night. A club with a wide range of sailing opportunities.

Last weekend the Ruffian sailors from Dun Laoghaire and Wicklow travelled to Mayo Sailing Club for The All Ireland Ruffian Team Racing Championships. A series of quick races, 4 teams, 3 boats per team on Saturday and knock out 3 races for win on Sunday. Stunning scenery, great event. Congrats to winning Mayo team 👏

Making the most of the sun yesterday with a whistle stop in Malahide. 🌞🌊⛵️⚓️

Glorious sunshine (ok, there was the odd shower) in West Cork. Crew for week 13 had 6 nights cruising from Baltimore to Bantry Bay, taking in Cape Clear, Bere Island, and a good bit of sightseeing. Two more weeks and then Silver Wind returns to Dun Loaghaire for daysails and Autumn weekend cruises.
