Better late than never. So the weekend before I competed at the nationals at the u90 class. Weighing in at 105kg on the 1st of June (I got fat over lockdown) to weighing in at 89.25kg on sat 3rd of October was a rough journey but I made it, with special thanks to for putting up with me and helping me with my foods (and hiding all the crap in the houseπ
)
So I finally hit the 600kg mark! Wasn't sure i could as I've been struggling with a back injury the last couple of months plus the heavy weight cut, but I got it. Finished with a 207.5kg Squat, 140kg Bench (chasing that for a while now) and a 252.5kg Deadlift giving me my 600kg total. I also went for a 4th attempt dead and pulled 260kg to break the sub masters world record deadlift was the cherry on the top.
Huge thanks to my coach to helping me achieve this goal, couldn't have done it without his help,patience and motivation.
to hosting a fantastic and well organised powerlifting competition, always a pleasure to compete at them πͺ thank you
Thanks to for allowing me to come into to use the mono and deadlift bar. Even though I'm not a member everyone in there are helpful and its a great environment to lift in.
I'm also lucky to work out of where is constantly improving the gym which has been great for my training, and was also a big help to my weight loss πͺ

Love this simple explanation on how to exercise with/through pain. I get ask regularly is it ok to train while in pain. It is ok but to a certain point. Keeping our body strong is vital to our performance be it power lifting, crossfit, regular gym goers or busy people. A strong mobile body needs the support from not only the muscles but ligaments, tendons and the joints. These areas can become injured or painful to train. A regular sports massage (IASTM massage,cupping)can help keep your body from developing these potential injuries. Also can help aid in recovery from these injuries if you are suffering from them. Know how to safely and correctly train through pain.
Add this with corrective strength and recovery training sessions and you are on to keeping yourself at your peak performance to hit that PB, best that time or just recover faster from a great workout. Stay strong, get a sports massage and get coached on corrective training πͺπͺπͺπͺ for more info on treatment and training packages just pm me here or at [email protected]

I've a pain in my back. My shoulder hurts. My neck is stiff. My glutes are not firing. These are only a few of the common problems I hear week in week out. There are hundreds of muscles in the human body (over 650 depending on how indept you want to go) and we too often just think of one area, one muscle in terms of pain without actually breaking down the reason/s to why there are pain in these area. Take shoulder pain, this can come from many muscle areas such as the Pec, Bicep, Tricep,Traps, Delts, Rotators (theres 4 of them) to name a few. Ligaments, tendons and the capsule itself can of course play a role in the pain. We need to figure out WHY and HOW the injury/pain has happened so it wont happen again.
Book in for an assessment/treatment and I will go through corrective strengthening exercises and movement patterns as part of your recovery plan. Prevent injuries from happening, rehab current injuries to come back stronger than before and a regular treatment to keep your body in top shape for your training/day to day life

So I competed in the AWPC European championships at u90s. I finished second (with .s.training smashing 1st and coming 3rd these guys where amazing to watch and so friendly and encouraging, a fact I love about powerlifting, everyone wants everyone to succeed). I also hit a new PB on Deadlift at 252.5kg setting a new World/Euros record at sub masters (33-39yrs) which was previously 242.5kg. Matched my squats at 200kg and bench 135kg failing 140kg just barely. All in all was such a great experience, loved watching all the other lifters smash their lifts setting pbs and records.
Loads of support and help from the team and other lifters makes the day all that better and fun. Huge shout out to my coach who has been great the whole prep and keeping me going and getting stronger. Also to to getting me hyped up, helping warm me up and always telling me to relax π
has outdone himself with a fantastic setup for this competition. @ Great National South Court Hotel

Well what a weekend! ran a fantastic competition. Made my weight and watched an amazing Saturday at the ipo/aipo nationals. Sunday was my turn and I was in a tough flight u90kg. Finished 3rd. 585kg total (25kg pb) , 200kg squat (15kgpb) 135kg bench (matched current pb) 250kg deadlift (10kg pb). The Winner finished 680π±. 3 of us finished with 585 but 2nd place weighed 87.8, I weighed 88.4 (3rd place) and 4th weighed 88.45
Plan was 140 bench but myself Jay and Eamonn called it at 135 cause needed to keep up with the other 2, incase I missed it and proved vital.
Just want to thank my coach for all his hard work, education (still new to this) and time he gives me. for handling me on the day and helping me with all the lifts and getting me pumped. And everyone and the rest for all your support and help. Europeans next, time to break 600kg πͺπͺπͺπͺ

Working on today to help improve his ROM on his Lats and Serratus Anterior muscles. As well as releasing tension in his mid back (t-spine area). Marc also needed his glutes and esp his piriformis worked on. With a mixture of Sports massage Treatment, tools, cups and various stretching techniques I was able to loosen up his muscles, improve their ROM and relieve his pain/tension.
