Well Ladies and Gents, what a weekend that was!
The epic clash between Europe's finest rugby teams took place in Dublin on Saturday and it certainly did not disappoint (the game in the Aviva was only alright). The Toulouse Vets came to play and within 10 minutes were two tries ahead - might have had something to do with a few sore heads and extreme thirst on the UCD side. For the first 40 the men from the South of France dominated, throwing offloads Romain Ntamack would be proud of. The crowd was growing anxious that this could get embarrassing for the home men, but after half time the mental fog cleared and UCD took over in every facet of the game. The score was tight at 19-14 with 15 on the clock, thanks to a well worked try finished by Zach Charlton. The Toulouse men rallied and exerted huge pressure on the Dublin line for the final 15 minutes, but the men in green stood resolute and the game ended with a 19-14 win for the touring Toulouse side. The French men continue their impressive win streak, having never lost a game since visiting Dublin in 2014!
It was an excellent occasion for both sides and the support was truly brilliant. Thank you from all the players to everyone who turned out to support, cheer, drink cans, and stare and French men in shorts.
We hope the UCD men can exact revenge in Toulouse some day in the not too distant future!
Thank you to Bastien Autuoro for organising his side and making it a fantastic weekend for everyone involved, merci beacoup!
As always, huge thanks to our sponsor XLVets Ireland, your support is greatly appreciated!
Special mention to our photographer for the occasion Kay O Sullivan.

Alright ladies and gents,
We are currently running the first fundraiser of this season and it is a cracker. As we all know, the World Cup is starting this Sunday in Qatar. We have organised a sweepstake for the competition with a 10 euro entry fee. The top prize is 100 euro, second prize is 30 euro. Each entrant is randomly assigned a team for the tournament.
If you are interested please contact Patrick Molloy (club secretary) or myself Cormac McCarthy Hann (president).
All support is greatly appreciated, it is fundraisers like this that keep the club running.
Evening ladies and gents,
Friday night was a tough loss to Beaumont Hospital 19-14, an incredible fight back from the boys levelled the score but a last minute try took the game out of our reach. The support was mighty as always, big hand to every man, woman, and child that turned up to get behind the men in green!
This is a bye week to accomodate the crushing hangover that follows AVS this weekend, our next game will be against Vincents in 4 weeks time - keep your ears to the ground for further info about that.
In other news, there will be some fundraising events coming up, excellent opportunity to meet your icons in navy and green and get any autographs (please bring money for club cans - we all love the friday night socials after the match).
There will also be some exciting announcements about exhibition matches taking place in the new year which are sure to be huge occasions for the college.
As always, our appreciation goes to all the guys at XLVets for backing the team with their generous support. Please enjoy these photos of our forwards looking slick in our new jerseys courtesy of XLVets XLVets Ireland
All the best,
President.
Ladies and gents, it has been a while since our narrow defeat to the Mater Hospital in the final of the Hospitals Cup 2022, since then there has been much change in the club and the teamsheet. We have a new committee and lots of new members joining some stalwarts of the club.
Our first game of the 2022-2023 season was a loss to the Mater Hospital (nothing more to be said about that).
The Veterinary College are playing Beamount in round two of the hospitals cup on Friday the 28th of October in UCD - kick off 7.30pm. As always, any and all support is greatly appreciated, it is sure to be a great occasion and an excellent opportunity to enjoy some well-earned refreshments.
Lastly, anyone at the first match will have noticed our incredibly stylish new jersyes, courtesy of XL-Vets. Friday Night Lights are back! The Vets face-off against Mater Hospital in Old Belvedere RFC this week in search of a history-making first Hospitals Cup victory. All the support so far has been greatly appreciated so lets keep the ball rolling, fill the sidelines and take home the Cup!
Massive congratulations to the lads after last nights emphatic win against Trinity FEDs. Full time score was 38-12 securing the win and a bonus point.
Tries for the Vets came from Patrick Molloy, Timmy Davidson, Gerard Warde, Zach Charlton, Michael Smyth and Ronan Moffett.
Zach Charlton's kicking in the face of a stiff breeze kept the Vets on top throughout the match, converting a corner try from Ronan Moffett from the touchline. Eoin Ryan and Timmy Davidson held a formidable scrum together. Gerard Warde, Patrick Molloy and Finian Logan made the hard yards for the Vets carrying ball after ball and finding the gaps in the Trinity defensive line.
Thanks to all the supporters who travelled from near and not-so-near to see the lads play. It means everything to have you all on the sideline.
Finally thanks to Mark Crowe who's dedication to preparing the team year in year out is paying massive dividends. Now onwards and upwards to bring home the Cup!
