⚽️ AFL Premier Division Possible Decider – Match Update ⚽️

What could be the defining game of the AFL Premier Division is finally upon us!
Due to our lovely Irish weather, today’s clash has been moved to an all-weather pitch, with a 4pm kick-off.

If recent results from both sides are anything to go by, we’re in for an absolute belter. Two in-form teams, both freshly crowned champions, both with everything still to play for.

Killester Donnycarney – newly crowned LFA Cup winners.
Blackforge FC – newly crowned Amateur Cup champions.

This is 35s football at its finest.
This is winner take all.
This is 90 minutes that could decide the title.

Will someone take it in 90 minutes?
Will today be the day the league is settled?
Who lifts the trophy?

Get out, get behind the lads —
AFL 35s is where it’s at.

A message from the AFL Chairperson.

Good afternoon, all,

I hope this message finds you well.

Firstly, I would like to take a moment to thank the committee and all the clubs who supported my appointment as Chairperson of the AFL. I’m truly honored to step into this role. A special and heartfelt thank you to Gary, who has stepped down as Chairperson but will continue to serve as our Treasurer. Gary’s dedication and contributions to the AFL have been remarkable, and I am aware I have big shoes to fill.

As we look ahead, I wanted to reach out regarding the upcoming season. We are now just seven weeks away from the first league games, which are scheduled to commence on Friday, 28th February. With the season fast approaching, I urge all clubs to submit their applications as soon as possible.

This year, we will have additional preparations to complete with FAI Connect, and we are operating under stricter deadlines than in previous seasons. Timely submission of applications is critical, as we must coordinate with the FAI Connect team for the approval of new players. Once approved, our Registrar, Allan, will process the players into the league. Please note that any player not approved and added to the team on FAI Connect will not be eligible to play. By submitting your applications early, you’ll help ensure a smoother process for everyone involved.

We are continuing to make significant strides within the AFL, and there will be some changes to how we operate this season. While we may encounter challenges along the way, I am confident that with open and respectful communication, we can work together to make the 2025 season a great success.

We will hold a Formation Meeting in the coming weeks, and Peter will send out further details shortly. I encourage as many of you as possible to attend so we can discuss plans for the season ahead.

Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to all club secretaries, team managers, coaches, physios, administrators, players, and referees for your hard work and dedication to the AFL. Without each of you, none of this would be possible.

Let’s work together to ensure we’re well-prepared for the season. Please send in your applications as soon as possible to facilitate a smooth start for all.

Thank you once again for your support.

Best regards,
Ellie
Chairperson, AFL
