Ian Lougher at the 2025 Classic TT 20/11/2025

It was an absolute blast working alongside the legend that is Ian Lougher at the Classic TT for the guts of 10 years (where did that go?). The laughs, professionalism and overall great fun he brought to the team every year is something we’ll miss, but don’t worry Ian, we’ll be sure to knock in and ask for your expertise over the next while.

Over the 10 years of working together you never wined! I mean whined!

From all of us here at Laycock Racing, we wish Ian and Asa the very best in the future and thanks for all the laughs!

Lechyd Da!

2025 Classic TT Lightweight Race - Done & Dusted

We had a very hectic qualifying with very little track time this year, yet Ian rode a fantastic race and brought the bike back to a second place finish. Another podium to add to his large tally, the whole team are delighted for him. You have to admire his work ethic and race craft every year here at the Isle Of Man

Mike had a slight issue that affected the beginning of his race, he was making amazing progress throughout the rest of the lap and was coming on strong but came off the bike at Brandywell, we’re happy to say he was back on his feet right away and avoided any serious injuries.

This year really tested us, but for Ian to come away with second place after the serious lack of track time, and for the pace that Mike showed when everything was on song was really promising.

A bit of fettling to do over the winter to get them ready for next year. Thanks so much to Ian and Mike for all the hard work they’ve put in on the bikes this Classic TT. A big thanks to all the sponsors that helped get the bikes to the Island and keep these wonderful two strokes running. It was amazing to hear how many people came over just to hear these bikes race around the island.

Is it bad that we’re already counting down the days to Classic TT 2026?

Quick Recap

On Monday evening we had our race get off to a great start, both Ian and Mike made amazing first and second sectors. By the time the red flag came out, Mike was 3.5 seconds ahead of Dunlop and Ian was 2.2 behind Dunlop.

The race wasn’t restarted which has given us time to make some tweaks and have the bikes mint for racing today.

All of us at the team hope that everyone involved in accidents on Monday are doing okay and will make a full recovery to get back on their bikes soon.

Weather is a bit iffy here this morning and we’re hoping it’ll clear for some racing this afternoon/evening.

Keep your eyes peeled on the schedule as there’ll be an update up by 11am this morning.

‼️‼️Please Help‼️‼️

We’ve had a box of jets for the TZ’s disappear from the parc ferme area yesterday evening after the session was red flagged.

This box is vital for us to be on the grid for the lightweight race this week.

We’ll be going through camera footage when we get the cameras back this evening but if you could please check your paddock trolleys to make sure it wasn’t accidentally thrown in during the end of the session.

Race Day

And just like that…. It’s race day. Our race has been pulled forward a few days to today due to a nasty few days of rain on the way.

Up through scrutiny now and ready to do a qualifying lap with both bikes after some tweaks made yesterday. The weather looks beautiful and our race is scheduled for 5.30pm today.

Thanks to all of our sponsors that have helped us out to get here, it means a lot to all of us on the team.

It’s been a hard couple of days, we’ve had issues with both bikes which have been unrelated issues and issues we haven’t encountered before.

Component failures, electrical issues and other problems have given us very little track time so far. We spent yesterday evening and all morning getting the bikes prepped and we’re excited for this afternoon’s session at 3pm.

Would anyone like a little sneak peek of the bikes we’ll be running this year at the Classic TT?

We’ve made a small change to bikes, can you spot any differences from the 2024 machines?

A bit late to the party, but better late than never eh?

By now we’re sure that you’ve heard the great news, for 2025, the Classic TT is returning!

Running alongside the Manx next year, with an exciting schedule and a much more flexible timeline for both the riders and the fans. It should make it more accessible for fans making the trip over to the Island to catch some qualifying and racing during their stay!

We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be bringing both our TZ’s over for the duration of the event. We hope to see you all there, more updates to come over the winter 🤟
