‘It won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it’
Neilo
12.05.2019

So true… Neil said this in his vows on our wedding day 💞

I am SO aware of how lucky I am and am so incredibly grateful for my beautiful family but you know what, it’s not always easy.

I’m exhausted at the moment, I feel so drained & stretched and like I’m looking after EVERYTHING and everyone but myself. I’m running on empty in the Julie tank and I’m really starting to feel it. I know I need to change this, I’m trying to work out how because I know the why…but as I’m sure lots of you know too well it’s so hard to make it happen. That’s not an excuse (although Neil will tell me it is 🤦🏻‍♀️) I’ve been a little quiet on here because I just feel so burnt out and honestly I didn’t want to share that energy. I need to change this, so the positive pants are on!

My commitment to myself:
- Do something every day that fills my cup a little 💞
- Do something once a week that refills my cup 💞💞
- Do something once a month that overflows my cup 💞💞💞

I would do anything for my boys and my family but running on empty and stretching myself so thin means I am not the best version of myself for anyone.

Terrible 2’s we are ready for you 🤣

I honestly don’t think I’ll sleep tonight… I’m an emotional wreck and so excited for a weekend of celebrations for my little man.

My baby is 2! How did that happen?! Feeling all the emotions tonight- I blubbered writing his birthday card.

Every day I feel so lucky… the joy & happiness Beau brings to us all every day is something I’ll never be able to capture in words but I feel it overwhelms me daily when I look at him!

Can’t wait to spoil him for the next few days 💙

My blue eyed boy 💙

The happiest little man… my sidekick! He came with me to all my meetings & clients today & was an absolute angel 💙

I’m just obsessed with him 💙

Out out!!! Well the closest thing I’ve been in a long time.

Such a wonderful morning with the gorgeous & and all the lovely mums & babies who joined us. Thank you so much to everyone who made it in, I know it’s not easy getting out of the house with a little one.

If you look at events like this and think ‘there is no way I could do that’ or are worried about going on your own, or what meltdown your little one might have… you are not alone! This was something we spoke about this morning and honestly Mamas it was such a relaxed, welcoming and inclusive space. I highly recommend getting to one of these morning events when they are back in September.

It was a lovely reminder that we are all on the rollercoaster of motherhood, that we all have our ups and downs, we all doubt ourselves, we all overstretch ourselves and if we are being honest probably all neglect ourselves. Remember mamas you need to invest in yourself too, you are worth it and you deserve your own kindness too! 💞

What a lovely way to start the bank holiday weekend.

Also so proud of myself for getting through the morning without any baby sick, food or poo on my white jumpsuit…

It isn’t all laughter & sunshine but every day there are countless moments that my heart bursts with love, gratitude & pure joy with these two little monkeys. Watching them grow up together is a true gift!

I’m reminding myself of this as I head in to town this morning, feeling slightly frazzled, to speak alongside two fabulous women at the event which I’m so excited for and I’m trying to get my head in the zone!

I had great plans to:
- have my outfit planned & laid out last night 🤣 not a chance.
- get some quiet time to myself to think about what I’m going to say…. No that didn’t happen either.
- Not look like I’ve been dragged through a bush backwards… I’ve totally given up here I fear this may be my new look now!

The reality is it was a scramble, it was chaos but I am out of the house, I am on the way dressed in something other than leggings (not a bikini either, don’t worry) and I’m so looking forward to chatting to lots of other mums and being in a social setting… it has been a while! I’m actually a little nervous if I’m honest but I know the minute I get there I’ll be fine.

Now for the journey home… wish us luck! 🤣

Moments like these 💙

I’m not going to lie holidays are very different with two under two! It’s absolute madness 🤣 but also great craic!

It’s so funny - every morning we put towels on the sun beds and I think the only time we actually get to sit down on them is to feed or change the boys 🤣

I’ve walked about 5,000 miles but have laughed A LOT! The boys are having ab absolute ball… mummy & daddy will need a holiday to recover 🥰

The boys’ outfits are from the Disney range. I absolutely love them 😍

Happy Tuesday from sunny Portugal… before I get carried away with holiday spam here are the recipes for the DIY SKIN & HAIR CARE thanks to

Cleansing & Nourishing Coconut Oil Hair Mask

The vitamins and fatty acids help to nourish the scalp and pe*****te through the cuticles; smoothing split ends and breakages and helping to control frizz in the process.

Coconut oil hydrates whilst apple cider vinegar is great for deep cleansing, leaving your hair looking and feeling clean, soft and shiny.

Ingredients
For this double-benefit hair mask, you'll need:

2 Tbsp. Frontier Foods Raw, Organic Coconut Oil
1 Tbsp. Frontier Foods Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

Method
Makes one application.

- warm the coconut oil in a pot until it is melted.
- Combine the oil with the apple cider vinegar, mix well.
apply the mask to dry or damp hair in sections, cover from root to tip.
- Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Follow with your regular shampoo and conditioner routine.

Exfoliating & Moisturising Skin Scrub

The sugar gently buffs away dead skin cells, revealing healthy, radiant looking skin underneath. The coconut oil hydrates and moisturises, leaving your skin feeling silky smooth and smelling divine. The optional addition of orange or lemon essential oil adds a toning, brightening effect to your skin.

Use this recipe on your face, hands, feet, body — anywhere and everywhere, really.

Ingredients

2 Cups of light brown sugar
1 Cup of solid (but soft) Frontier Foods Raw, Organic Coconut Oil
Optional: 3 Drops of Orange or Lemon Essential Oil

Method

- Use a food processor to whip the sugar, oil, and essential oil together until the mixture looks creamy and resembles loose cookie dough. Don’t let it process too long, or the coconut oil will melt, and the mixture will separate. If this happens, just put it in the freezer for a few minutes to solidify and mix again.
- Apply gently and in circular motions to damp skin, or apply to dry skin for a stronger exfoliating effect. Rinse off with warm water.
- Use twice a week for optimum results. Store in an airtight container for up to three weeks.
