Adam Hession has been elected as the Vice chair of European Boxing's athlete commission.

What an incredible achievement in an already illustrious career!

Boxing Ireland’s Adam Hession, of Monivea BC, has been elected Vice Chair of European Boxing’s Athlete Commission.

The commission will aim to represent the views, rights, and interests of elite boxers across Europe, ensuring that athlete perspectives shape policy and the development of the sport.

Membership of this commission is a key leadership role in athlete-centred boxing governance, and Boxing Ireland extends congratulations to Adam, his club and family.

Fighting for more than medals – Boxing Ireland has partnered with Cuan Mhuire in Galway to deliver a pivotal Start Box programme.

Cuan Mhuire is Ireland’s largest voluntary provider of Addiction Treatment Services and Residential Rehabilitation. Its main objective is the rehabilitation of people suffering from alcohol, drug and gambling addictions. Programmes enable participants to become aware of, and learn to deal with the underlying problems relating to these addictions, and discover their uniqueness, giftedness and their real purpose in life.

Boxing Ireland’s Gabe Cronnelly of Monivea BC partnered with Cuan Mhuire Centre Leader Martin Gavin to deliver the course. Martin was a key member of the former Four Corners BC in Roscommon.

Over a period of 6 weeks, 20 men and women took part in an on-site StartBox programme, using boxing as another tool to support recovery, and to re-build confidence, gain boxing skills and develop life-skills.

The programme also supported creating a sustainable pathway into clubs through recreational boxing.

Boxing Ireland's vision is to make StartBox an ongoing programme in Cuan Mhuire centres and expand it to rehabilitation and addiction treatment centres across every province, giving more people the opportunity to rebuild their lives through boxing.

Galway Boxing Club set a new milestone today hosting an event promoting mental health awareness supported by Galway Traveller Movement & Galway Sports Partnership in the fantastic Ballinfoile Castlegar Neighbourhood Centre.

The event endorsed all of the positive aspects of our sports' community whilst also offering fantastic action in over 60 exhilirating bouts.

Enormous credit must go to Eddie & all at GBC for arranging such a fantastic event - and for sharing it, not only with clubs throughout Galway, but with visitors from every province on the island!

This was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable events of the entire season.

Well done all🙌
