🍀⚽ SFAI U12 NATIONAL CUP | ROUND 2 ⚽🍀
Gorey Celtic 0–1 Evergreen
A lovely day for football as we welcomed the kingpins of Kilkenny, Evergreen, to Bodibro Park for a cracking cup tie! 👏🔥
Both teams started at 100 miles an hour! Celtic looked to play football, while Evergreen posed a threat with their direct approach and quick transitions.
A top-class save from the Evergreen keeper denied Celtic from a dangerous corner before a mix-up at the back allowed the visitors to take a 1–0 lead. A real battle followed, with both sides giving everything! 💚
The second half was just as competitive, with three huge moments that could have changed the game. Captain Mason produced a superb last-ditch tackle to stop a dangerous counter-attack before Celtic won a penalty at the other end. Unfortunately, the Evergreen keeper made another excellent save.
The kids kept pushing until the final whistle, but Evergreen held firm to take the win.
💔 A tough one to take after such a committed performance, but plenty of positives to take from a brilliant contest between two top sides! The effort, attitude and determination were there for everyone to see.
⭐ POTM: GUI ⭐
An outstanding shift from Gui, who ran himself into the ground and drove us forward throughout. Thoroughly deserved! 👏🔥
👏 Best of luck to Evergreen in the next round!
💚 Heads up, Celtic! We learn, we improve, and we go again. Plenty more to come from this group! 💚🤍🍀
