Adult Round-Up

It was another busy week for Gorey AC, with members racing across Wexford, Wicklow, Waterford, Dublin and Tipperary.

Oylegate Half Marathon and 10K
We had a great club turnout at the Oylegate Half Marathon and 10K on Sunday, 30 August, with some excellent performances across both distances.

Half Marathon (County Half)
* Nick Aslin - 1:30:23, 16th overall and a new PB
* Daniel Boland - 1:34:21, 28th overall
* Nathan Kelly - 1:49:41, new PB
* Jane Raikar - 1:50:59, new PB
* Ian O’Neill - 1:52:30

Well done to everyone who represented the club, with special congratulations to Nick, Nathan and Jane on their new half-marathon personal bests.

Wicklow Way Ultra
What a way for Niamh Drea to begin her Gorey AC racing career!

On Friday, 28 August, Niamh completed the 133km Wicklow Way Ultra in 20 hours and 34 minutes, finishing as the fourth woman home.

That is a remarkable first race in the Gorey AC colours. Huge congratulations to Niamh on an amazing performance!

Two races in two days for Yessyka!
A special mention must go to Yessyka Bergin, who completed the Waterford Greenway Half Marathon on Saturday before lining up again for the Oylegate 10K on Sunday.

That is 31.1km of racing across two days. An unreal effort, Yessyka!

Very Pink Run
Eve Le Louarn, Jill Hyland, Carol Goodwin and Natasha Kinsella took part in the Very Pink Run in Dublin on Saturday, 29 August, supporting Breast Cancer Ireland.

Well done to all four for representing Gorey AC while supporting such an important cause.

Run for Wildlife
Sinead Kelly represented Gorey AC at the Run for Wildlife in Dublin Zoo on Saturday, 29 August. Well done, Sinead!

Tinahely 5K and 10K

Sinead Kelly and Shane Keogh were also in action at the Tinahely 5K and 10K event on Friday, 28 August, with Shane completing his race in 54:31.

Two events in two days made it a particularly busy weekend for Sinead. Well done!!

Boston Scientific Half Marathon
A result from last Sunday, 23 August, and one well worth celebrating.

Luke Lonergan ran a wonderful personal best of 2:02:00 at the Boston Scientific Half Marathon in Clonmel.

Congratulations to Luke, and well done to every Gorey AC member who raced, ran for a cause or represented the club during another excellent week.

**IMPORTANT NOTICE**

**PARKING AT GOREY PARKRUN**

As participant numbers have grown at Gorey parkrun, we have been made aware of a growing number of people parking in surrounding estates, in particular, in Allenwood Drive, for the duration of the event. Blocking driveways & obstructing public footpaths & roads is not only inconsiderate but it is also illegal & it can cause a serious hazard if an emergency vehicle needs to access the Estate. Please respect our neighbours & please DO NOT park in surrounding Estates!

We encourage carpooling or walking to parkrun where possible. When the Town park car park is full there are a number of local public car parks within a five minute walk of the park, The Fire Station (Rams Arms), Pearse St. & The Little Theatre car park, to name a few.

Let’s keep parkrun positive, fun & community inclusive. Thanks as always for your understanding, the Gorey parkrun Team.

Our latest Fit4Life Couch to 5K Programme kicks off tonight in Gorey Town Park! 🙌

Great numbers at Friday's S&C with Coach Bear. Anyone interested in trying out these brilliant classes do let us know. 💪

It was great to see Pat O'Byrne donning the club singlet at Gorey Parkrun on Saturday. Well done to all members who took part especially Juvenile Penelope who volunteered on the day. 👏

Four of our Juveniles ran the Arklow Junior Parkrun on Sunday morning. 💙

We've got a date for your diaries as Gorey AC will be once again hosting our Table Quiz and Raffle Night on October 16th in the Loch Garman Arms Hotel. Tickets will be available very soon. 🧠

Juvenile and Seniors Training continues this week with Cross Country season almost upon us. ⛰️

Our new 10-week FitForLife Couch to 5K programme starts tonight!

Coach Gill will guide the group through simple walking and running intervals, building gradually towards completing a full 5K at Gorey parkrun.

You do not need to be fit. You do not need any running experience. You just need to show up.
