Interested in a paid riding holiday in France? Here is a copy of a post on "horses south west France" group:
Hello. I'm seeking someone very horse-friendly/horse experienced who can come live at my 5 bedroom house in the Dordogne just outside of Nontron (24300) from March 15th-March 31st to take care of the property and my animals. I have 7 horses (all very nice, various sizes/ages), 4 dogs (friendly), 1 indoor cat, 1 half in/half out cat, and 2 strays in the barn. Horses are fed grain mix (soaked) 2x a day (08:00 and 17:30 - takes about 30-45 minutes each time) and hay 3x a day (same as grain times and also around lunch time). Dogs and cats are fed 2x a day. I have a sand school (40m x 20m) just installed, a 20m round pen, and a spare paddock, so it's possible to bring a horse or two along. We're paying 50 euros a day for just the care of the animals and house, and if this person is a serious horse rider/trainer, an additional 160 euros per week to ride my 2 horses 4x a week to keep them in shape. So in total it's 17 days at 50 euros a day (850 euros) and if training added (1170 euros). Anyone interested or know someone who might be interested. Please feel free to pass on my email address: [email protected]. Thanks!

Riding with friends at The Summit Inn

What a beautiful frosty morning on Sunday. We didn't venture down the slippy icy hill on Windgate Road but after a ride to the beach it presented a great photo opportunity on the way back up, especially as I was riding my lovely Beauty for a change.

After all that stormy rain yesterday, it was a wonderful still morning for a ride up on Howth Summit - the highest point at the old triangulation station (where the masts are). Introducing the next generation of horse riders in Howth that will keep the tradition going - after I am gone.
Blue skies to the north. Turbulent skies to the south.

Watching Harry and The Snowman on Netflix.
No, it is not a Christmas film. It is about a horse saved from the slaughter house back in the 1950s who went on to become one of the best showjumpers in America.
Watch it. It's good.

Went for a canter down at Red Rock - only to be confronted by a roaming herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle - we kept well away from their curious stares. Thanks to the walker who took the lovely photo of us together with her very well behaved dog.

It is necessary to take a train and a bus to get the 5km from Clongriffin to Howth Horse Trekking. But it was worth it for this student to get out of the riding arena and into the wilds of the west mountain of Howth.

Another French student enjoys the wonderful view from the Ben of Howth despite the mist moving in fast.

What an absolutely gorgeous morning it was for riding today. And to make it even better I was greeted at the field by a chorus of bird song - starlings on the wire (dropping on my jeep!), curlews calling and swooping, a pheasant crossing the lane, a waterhen, hooded crows cawing, magpies strutting around, sparrows flitting through the hawthorn and even a robin made an appearance. It was just wonderful in warm sunshine. I forgot my phone so here are some bird photos courtesy of Wikipedia.
Curlews are near extinction in Ireland - listen to their call here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws7jH6wNKN4&ab_channel=betacygni

My daughter back in the saddle after 10 years and still riding like she could have been a pro, despite the sore knees. Beauty even had her ears pricked for a change.
