The Spartans Regional Men are back — and this season has a clear purpose.

This is our reserve & development team for Spartan Junior boys and Adult Beginner-Intermediate players. It’s a place to get meaningful game time, experience pressure, develop your position, and build the confidence needed to step up when the opportunity comes. 🏐💪

This season, the focus is firmly on developing our own Spartans.

No shortcuts. No distractions. Just commitment, hard work, learning and improvement.

For players with ambitions to play at a higher level, this is your platform to stand out and earn your opportunity in D2. 👊

📍 Mondays — 8:30–10:00pm
Watershed Sports Centre, Kilkenny
➡️ Preparation and development for our league games.

⭐ From time to time, players will also be personally invited to D2 training on Wednesdays at 8:00pm when the first team needs extra players.

Our U16 boys have finished as National League Silver Medallists for the last TWO seasons 🥈🥈 and are also the RDC Sister Bosco Cup Champions! 🏆

After narrowly losing the Cup Final to Kildare last season, this group has unfinished business…

NOW WE GO FOR GOLD. 🥇

We’re looking for new boys aged 11–15 (born 2011 or after) to join us as we build a new generation of male volleyball players in Kilkenny.

Led by Coach James Needham, entering his second year at the helm, the goal is simple:

🔥 Compete in the U16 League
🏆 Reach the Grand Final — and go one better!

Then 5 more double-header outings throughout the season, all building towards the Grand Final on April 3rd.

Our U16 girls are the CURRENT NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 🏆🇮🇪 — but with most of last year’s championship squad moving up to U18, there are places to be won.

And this year, we’re expanding from one team to TWO U16 teams! 💥

That means twice the opportunity for girls to develop, compete, make friends and become part of the Spartan family.

SPARTANS U12 ARE SERVING UP A STORM! 🔥🏐

Yesterday at the Watershed, our Spartan U12s were getting stuck into one of the most important skills in volleyball — THE SERVE! 💥

Under the watchful eye of Coach Benny, the kids were learning, practising, missing, trying again… and absolutely LOVING IT! 😍🙌

From the first nervous toss to getting that ball flying over the net, every serve was another step forward. 💪🏐

And that's what Spartans volleyball is all about — learning together, having fun, building confidence and becoming better players every session! ❤️🖤

🇮🇪 From Spartans to the International Stage(Again) 🇮🇪

Today is a truly special day for everyone at Kilkenny Spartans Volleyball Club.

A huge congratulations to Maria de Souza, who represents Ireland this weekend in Cardiff in beach volleyball, becoming the first-ever Kilkenny Spartans player to represent Ireland in beach volleyball. What an incredible milestone for both Maria and our club! 💚🤍🧡

Maria first joined Spartans in late 2022, and from day one she embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, dedication and a willingness to learn. Watching her journey over the past few years has been a privilege. She has worked tirelessly to develop her game, growing into the outstanding athlete and person she is today.

This montage captures just a small part of that journey—from her early days with Spartans, to proudly wearing the Irish jersey indoors alongside three other Spartans in the Ireland U18 National Team earlier this year, and now earning the unique honour of representing Ireland on the beach volleyball stage.

As a coach, moments like these make all the hard work worthwhile. Seeing players fulfil their potential and achieve dreams they have worked so hard for is incredibly rewarding.

Maria is also in good company. I had the honour of making my own international beach volleyball debut for Ireland 10 years ago, while another Spartan, Shai Govinder, proudly represented South Africa internationally. It's wonderful to see our club continuing to produce players who can compete on the international stage.

Maria, everyone at Kilkenny Spartans is immensely proud of you. Enjoy every moment, trust your training, play with confidence, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Best of luck to you and Carmen this weekend in Cardiff. Wear the Irish jersey with pride, give it everything you've got, and hopefully bring home glory for Ireland and make Kilkenny Spartans proud! 🇮🇪🏐💚
