On Sunday the 20th of September, Lacken Pitch And Putt Club held its first major competition under new management.

They ran a Scratch Cup on their 18 hole course for the first time since 1994.

The Memorial tournament was ran in memory of past member Martin Brennan. Martin was a stalwart member in Lacken, representing the club at the top level for many years, and leading the club from the front.

Nothing was ever a big deal and he guided Lacken through its early glory years. He is sadly missed by his close friends Christy and Pierce Purcell and all the members of the club.

We had over 129 entries in all grades with some of Irelands best players in action, with birdies galore and even a few aces to wow the spectators.

The feedback from the visiting players was extremely positive about the challenging course layout and excellent greens.

The highlight was a new course record being set by the overall winner David White playing for Larkspur Park pitch and putt Clonmel, he shot an incredible -18 to win and set -11 as the number to beat going forward.

What a day for these two gentlemen⛳️

It was an absolutely glorious day for the Martin Brennan Scratch Cup held yesterday. This was the first scratch cup held in Lacken in over 20 years. It was fantastic to see so many players from around the region travel to support it.

A huge thank you to all the committee members, and club members who put in so much hard work and effort to have the course looking absolutely amazing for yesterday. Not forgetting all the hard work behind the scenes in organising the competition and refreshments.
