Seamus Begley: West Kerry musician and singer Séamus Ó Beaglaoich has died There’s genuine sadness that we’ll never again hear a fresh round of tunes and songs delivered in Séamus Ó Beaglaoich’s inimitable style, but he leaves behind a musical legacy that will be listened back to many generations from now.

One of the country’s most talented and charismatic traditional musicians, Séamus Begley, has died.
Aged 73 and from Ballydavid in west Kerry, he was an outstanding accordion master and a wonderful sean nós singer.
A farmer in west Kerry, in the early stages of his musical career he packed dance halls everywhere he played and he struck up a great double act with Australian-Irish musician Steve Cooney.
Seamus (pictured) also played with the likes of Mary Black, Glen Hansard and Oisín Mac Diarmada.
From a great musical family,
Seamus released several albums and headlined numerous concerts
with a vast repertoire of songs in both English and Irish.
In a tribute on Twitter, Waterboys frontman described Seamus Begley as “a friend, a king and a god”.
“The finest of all musicians and, perhaps, the greatest singer I’ve ever heard,” he said.
