Clare River Harriers had a brilliant day out at the Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026, with 16 members taking to the streets of the capital! For some it was their first, and for many it was another crack at what is always a great event in the running calendar.
Months of hard training, early morning long runs and dedication were evident today in challenging conditions, and each participant can be very proud of their efforts. Despite the conditions, some even PB'd - showing the great efforts they put in.
Well done to Aidan Connaughton, Gareth Callan, Claire Moore, Ollie Crowe, Mark Dinkin, Shane Creaven, Kevin Burke, Dave Kelly, Sinéad Burke, Edel Mannion, Marc Connaughton, Noel Conneely, Michael Healy, Brian Small, Sinéad Crowe and Colman Greene.
A special mention for Aidan Connaughton, leading us home with another superb sub-3 PB performance of 2:51:49, only weeks after Berlin.
A massive thank you to all the family, friends and supporters who travelled to Dublin or followed the runners throughout the day. The encouragement and support mean so much and played a great role in getting everyone through.

CRH are Connacht Champions 💪🥳.

What a memorable day for our u16 boys at the Connacht Even Cross Country Championships in Roscommon as they were crowned Connacht Champions.

Patrick Lee led the lads over the line by claiming bronze. He was then followed by Sean Howley in 4th, Fionn Creaven in 9th, Finn Giblin in 12th, Thomas Byrne in 19th and Ryan Scully in 20th.

Having four CRH athletes in the top 12 and the 6 in the top twenty secured them a team gold medal.

This FANTASTIC result was achieved as a result of the hard work and dedication each of the 6 lads has put in since the start of the season and we hope they continue to develop as they now prepare for All Irelands in Abbotstown on Nov 23rd.

CRH was also represented today by two amazing u12 role models - Rachel Carney amd Abbie Sweeney. These two determined young ladies fought hard and placed in impressive 30th and 49th positions 👏.

Congrats and well done to Chris and Will from our Senior Club who completed the TCS Amsterdam Marathon earlier today! Both Chris and Will have been working hard over the past few months and putting in the miles to get prepared for today, and their hard work paid off with strong results for both and times to be very proud of. Well done from all here at the club and thank you for representing us on the international stage 👏👏

Closer to home, our Senior Club finished off their Dublin Marathon training block. After months of early morning long runs they moved into the more enjoyable carb loading phase! We wish them all the best as they prepare to take to the streets of the capital next Sunday. 🔴⚫

CRH even athletes launch their cross country season in style💪💪.

Our athletes hard work and dedication thus far is certainly bearing fruit in abundance and this was clearly evident this a.m in Bushfield, Loughrea for the Galway Even Cross Country Championships.

Our u16 boys team were seriously impressive with all 5 young men finishing in the top 6. Patrick Lee had a superb finish to secure gold with Sean Howley claiming silver and Fionn Creaven, Finn Giblin and Thomas Byrne placing 4th, 5th and 6th respectively. These talented athletes secured the gold team medal making them county champions for yet another year🥳🥳.

Our u14 girl duo of Laoise Connaugton and Crea Melly fought hard with Laoise placing 19th and Crea 50th despite running up an age category.

Another powerful duo were our u12 girls of Rachel Carney and Abbie Sweeney. Rachel made the medals with a seriously impressive 7th position and Abbie finished strong to secure 23rd.

Dominic Connaughton flew the flag solo in our 12 boys by running up and age and again looked strong and placed 17th💪.

We had 3 athletes in the u10 category. Kate Melly ran a superb race and placed just outside the medals in 13th but what a great result for her first cross country event. Kate was joined by Chloe Connaughton also running up and placed 54th with Ruairi Callan placing 41st💪.

A great start for our athletes. Here is hoping the enjoyment of today continues for the remainder of the season and many thanks to Loughrea AC for hosting another efficient event.

Cross Country underway🥳.

This a.m in Tuam the national cross country season was officially kick started with the Galway Uneven Championships held in the Palace Grounds in Tuam.

After a rocky start with the weather, blue skies did appear and CRH athletes gave their all.

We had silverware for Rhona Connolly scoring silver in the u19 girls and for the Lally duo with Kate placing 11th in the u9 girls and her older brother Cormac placing 10th in the u11 boys. Laoise Connaugton flew the u15 flag solo for CRH today and placed an impressive 14th overall.

Fun in the sun🥳🥳.

What a great day for CRH athletes who competed under blue skies in the Galway Schools Cross Country event in Galway Racecourse today.

It was heartwarming to see our athletes represent the various local schools and have great fun running.

Over 2,500 athletes from across Galway participated today and CRH members were up there with the best.

Everyone tried hard and showed great determination. We had many finishing in the top 30 and had podium finishes for Cormac Lally (6th), Rachel Carney (10th) and Evanna Burke (15th).

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ TEN half marathons, one fantastic weekend for our senior club! 👏

It was a busy weekend of racing, with ten of our members going the distance in Copenhagen and Dublin!

🇩🇰 Copenhagen Half Marathon
Nine members travelled to Denmark to take part in the Copenhagen Half Marathon, part of the SuperHalfs series. For some, it was their very first SuperHalf, while others ticked another of the six races off their list! This race was extra special in that it coincided with the World Athletics Road Running Championships - giving travelling members the chance to rub shoulders with some of Ireland and the world's finest.
A huge well done to Brian, Cole, Edel, Eoin, Gareth, Mark, Noel, Ollie and Seán on their fantastic achievements! 👏👏👏

🇮🇪 Irish Life Dublin Half Marathon
Closer to home, Una reached a brilliant milestone, completing her very first half marathon in Dublin’s Phoenix Park. After months of dedicated training, it was a well-deserved achievement. Huge congratulations, Una! 👏👏👏

🏃 Saturday training continues!
Meanwhile, our Saturday morning runs continued, with members putting in the miles as they prepare for upcoming events, including the Berlin, Amsterdam and Dublin Marathons, as well as local races such as Galway Bay and Tarmonbarry.

Congrats to all our members on a fantastic weekend of running. The hard work is certainly paying off! 💪🔴⚫

Great start to Cross Country for CRH💪💪.

Many, many thanks to Castlegar AC for hosting yet another superbly organised cross country event.

CRH athletes kick started their season today in Galway Racecourse with great performances by all.

All our athletes displayed great form and ability to work hard over tough terrain.

We had gold and silver in the u16 boys with Sean Howley and Patrick Lee respectively. Finn Giblin led Fionn Creaven and Thomas Byrne across the finish line in the same race with all five lads looking strong.

Our oldest athletes were joined in silverware by our youngest with Kate Lally, Chloe Connaughton, Paddy Mccormack and Bobby Hawkins claiming gold in the u9 mixed relay.

Donnacha Creaven represented us in the u13 boys and showed great resilience throughout as did his u11 boys clubmates- Dominic Connaughton, Cormac Lally and Will Loughnane with Cormac placing 5th and Dominic 10th overall.

Our 10 and u11 girls wearing the red and black today were Kayleigh Langan, Faya Keating and Lucy Tarpey and this trio did CRH proud with the effort they put in.
