Rathdrum Tidy Towns A group of volunteers who give up their free time to transform Rathdrum into a cleaner, tidier town for recreation & tourism.

The group not only pick up litter, but look after flowerbeds & the environment by trying to promote & encourage biodiversity.

🍀Big news: ISSA is a partner to the new All-Ireland Pollinator Plan 2026–2030, contributing to the Buzzing Communities work package.

🐝 Here’s why this matters to us: almost one in three of the island of Ireland’s 102 wild bee species is threatened with extinction. Buzzing Communities is about bringing gardens, schools, local communities, faith communities, and sports clubs together to create connected networks of nature-friendly habitat across the island - and that’s exactly the kind of grassroots, connected action we believe in.

🌸The vision for the 2026–2030 Plan is to create an island with pockets of nature every 200 metres. A solitary bee won’t fly more than about 200 metres to find food, so connecting pollinator-friendly spaces across our landscapes is important.

🌱For Irish Seed Savers, being part of Buzzing Communities means contributing to a shared effort to create connected networks of nature-friendly habitat across the island.

As we have now passed the 1st September deadline we have started trimming and edging the hedgerow and path on Union Lane.
This will take some time so please bear with us. 🌿

Work is being done in an ecologically sensitive way so any berries etc are left for the birds 🪶

(If the one or two individuals who are still not cleaning up after their dogs could remember to do so carrying out this work would be a lot more pleasant 😮‍💨) Thank you to everyone who is making proper use of the dog 💩 bins 🙏
