O’Donovan Rossa’s Gaelic4Mothers&Others kicked off again two weeks ago, and it’s fantastic to see so many new members joining this year.

A big thanks to Gearoid McCarthy who will be running the training sessions for the ladies this season.

West Cork Ladies Football Ladies Gaelic Football Munster LGFA

O’Donovan Rossa football club would like to pass on our deepest condolences to the family of Dovydas Palkis on the heartbreaking news of his death after a tragic accident.

The club has wonderful memories of Dovydas as a young boy playing football with his friends. He played all the way up to U17 where he stepped away to concentrate on his leaving cert exams. He was a fantastic corner back with great strength and determination, who for such a quiet character was fearless on the pitch. He will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of playing or coaching him as a quiet, respectful young man who we will miss dearly. Rest in peace Dovydas.

On Saturday 5th of July O'Donovan Rossa Gaelic4Mothers&Others held our first blitz.
We were delighted Tadhg Maccarthaigh Ladies Gaa , Ilen Rovers GAA , Castlehaven GAA and Gabriel Rangers LGFA to a fun-filled day of football.

All players, brought their A-game and demonstrated what it means to be a part of a team and community. Your sportsmanship and camaraderie made the day a great success.

The energy on and off the field was electric, and it was inspiring to see players showcase their skills, determination, and love for football. Every pass, every goal, was cheered on by family and friends who we appreciate for coming to support us.

A special Thank-you goes out to a few people:
Noel Kearney, Aidan Hayes, Derek Tobin for helping us move goals and to Micheal Mc Carthy for helping us line the pitch. These men came out on Friday night in torrential rain to make sure our day started on the right foot and for that we are more than grateful.
Thank you to our referees, Ger O'Brien, George Lane, Gearoid Mc Carthy and Rickie O' Shea. Our timekeepers, Anna Mc Carthy and Shauna Hourihane, all gave up part of their day to lend a hand.
To Alan Keane and Sheila Hourihane, who opened the bar for us, and Gearoid McCarthy and Liam Hurley, who were around to make sure the day ran smoothly.
To Justina, who kindly gave her high-energy time to warm up with us and to all the ball boys and girls.

To Fields of Skibbereen who donated fruit to keep our players going throughout the matches and Hamilton's Pharmacy Skibbereen for giving us a hamper filled with goodies for the ladies.

A fantastic day was wrapped up with a prize giving and a few sociable drinks in the clubhouse while watching the cork hurling semi-final.

We look forward to more events like this in the future.

Once again, thank you to everyone that came and helped make the day memorable.
