Leinster Schools Combined events, NIA Abbotstown 7th Oct 2026

Well done to Ava, Katelyn, Alannah and Zoe, who competed at the Leinster Schools Combined Events, representing their schools Scoil Mhuire and Ráthcairn.

All four girls took part in five disciplines, hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put and 800m competing in large and competitive fields, with up to 40 athletes in their age groups.

Ava finished 12th overall in the 1st Year Girls’ competition, recording PBs in a number of her disciplines.

In the Junior Girls’ competition, Zoe finished inside the top 10, with PBs in shot put and 800m. Katelyn and Alannah also had strong performances, both finishing in the top 20 and recording PBs.

A fantastic day of competition and a great experience for all four girls. Well done to Ava, Katelyn, Alannah and Zoe on some great performances.

There were four club members representing Boyne Community School at the Leinster Schools Combined events.
Harry Dixon, Sebastian Flood and Bogdan Gordiievskyi competed in the Under 16 Boys category. Sebastian achieved qualification to the All Ireland finals on the 17th of October next in Athlone with a 4th place final ranking. Harry and Bogdan finished 13th and 14th respectively in the large competitive field of athletes.

Rachel Farrell, competed in the U18
girls category where she is underage again next year. Rachel equaled a number of her personal best performances over the five track and field disciplines and finished well up in the top 15

Well done to our athletes and we wish Sebastian Flood the very best in his upcoming All Ireland finals.

Well done to all the Trim athletes that represented their respective school on Tuesday in St Brigids Oldcastle.

Athletics Ireland organised a Coach Network Conference at the Sport Ireland Institute on Sunday, October 4th. It brought coaches from across the country together for learning, collaboration and practical development.

The conference was headlined by professional coach Marco Airale, who provided attendees with valuable insights into high-performance coaching, athlete development and the practical application of training principles.Marco is based in northern Italy and a number of athletes in his group won medals at the recent European Championships in Birmingham. The conference featured presentations, track demonstrations and practical gym sessions, giving coaches the opportunity to learn, connect and share best practice.

Trim AC had five coaches in attendance John Rowe, Ciaran Tobin, Trish Duffy, John Robinson and Daniel Blom. They took on board the practical and theoretical aspects of the weekend and look forward to putting some ideas and plans to use with our young athletes. The club is striving to give its members the best advice and guidance on developing their sporting abilities. Coach education and participation is a key to this and we thank AAI and in particular Paul McKee for their work.

Plenty of long distance action these weekends In the Galway Bay Marathon Helen Hartnett continued her winning streak in the west with a win in the W50 grade.She recorded a time of 3.31.10 for her victory and an impressive top 10 overall finish. Fastlane half marathon took place in Clondalkin on Saturday. Ciara Delany ran 1.38 to finish runner up in the W50 category.
The countdown to the DCM continued on Sunday at Longwood when the 3/4 Marathon rolled into town. The following Trim AC runners took part.

Meath cross county championship even ages took place in Navan Adventure centre Sunday the 4th of October.
It was Perfect conditions, lovely sunshine and firm ground.
First out in the u10 girls was Emily Van Wyk, this was her first cross country race for Trim AC. Running a great race over the 1km course finishing in 13th place in a big field of 50 girls!
The U12 girls were next over the 1.5 km distance all girls in fantastic running form.
Ella Eivers finishing 9th, Sophie Watters 10th, Meabh Wheelan 11th, Mia VanWyk 13th closely followed by Emmy Blom. In a big field of 53 girls.
Team placed 2nd, winning a super team silver Medal!
Next up was U12 boys with Dylan McCabe lining out in his first xcountry race running great, finishing in a 13th place.
U14 girls were up next over a 2.5 km course, with Lauren Eivers leading the Trim girls home in a 20th place, followed by Louisa Conlon in 23rd, Grace Feely in 25th, closely followed by Kate McSherry and Ava Blom. Team finishing in a 5th place.
Thanks to Meath Athletics for a well run competition, with Trims Pat Comey helping out on the course.

Next Sunday it’s time for the uneven ages.

Running rings around Greenanstown and Howth last weekend.
Andy Linsley took on the Star of the Sea cross country race on Sunday. While Olive, Robert and Shane headed up and down and around Howth.
