My last training before my mat leave kicks in 👶🏼

It really is a privilege to spend time with people who want to learn more about ADHD!

The majority of people are changing their hearts and minds about their perspective of neurodivergence and wanting to meet people through a neuro-affirming lens!

Change is happening, slowly, but I have to remind people that we don’t create change through shame!
How we approach others we want to make changes matters.

Looking forward to getting back to delivering last training when I return, so lucky that there are already dates in the diary!

Since when did it become ok to claim a profession we have no training in?
And why are we not considering the damage being done to the Coachees?

We need you to know, that when someone decides to self-identify or get formally diagnosed with ADHD, that they have been on a journey long before they got to this point.

The assessment process is daunting, there are waiting lists and huge costs involved.

There are fears based on potential outcomes of the process and on the impact it has on a persons life.

The can ruminate on it from anywhere between 6 months to 3 yrs.
Hours are spent researching & discussing it with others.
And it is highly likely that they have changed their mind 9 times before making the appointment.

You need to know, people don’t just decide to get diagnosed, they have thought it through!

People often go back and fourth about whether they should seek a diagnosis in the first place, because what if they are told it’s all in their head?

While others, even after ADHD has been formally diagnosed, will question the validity of the assessment because how could they possibly, after all these years, have an answer for the struggles they have been experiencing, that would explain away their self-perception of being a failure 🤷🏻‍♀️

What I say to people is, if the question is in your head, and you the financial means to find an answer, knowing either way is better than wondering!

It was’t until after the appointments, that I realised what had happened!

The last medical professional I disclosed too wrote in red caps locks ‘ MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES’ across my file 😡

Today was a special day!

Had the most amazing morning celebrating International Womens Day with 👯‍♀️

There were so many wins for me!
•First day out in months
•First time attending a networking event
•Stuck my biz card smack bam in the middle of the connections board
•Made some new connections
•Got go connect with some followers in person

Its safe to say this is the start of another new chapter 🎁

I know it helps me when I reframe a persons attempt to excuse away my reality, and realise that their own fear is getting in the way.

What is being said is hurtful & invalidating, but we get to choose what to pay attention to 👀

Those who deny reality do so becasuse they can’t accept it. Just because they are saying it, doesn’t make it true, and just because they have been given a platform doesn’t mean everyone agrees with them.

ADHD & ND isn’t going anywhere, and neither are we 💥
