U16 Waterford Interleague

Emily and Penny were in action away to Carlow this evening. Emily got the girls on the score sheet with an incredible free kick from 30 yards out. Unfortunately the girls were beaten 2-1. Hard luck girls.

Villa C 3–0 St Fiacc’s

⚽️ Odhran Power
⚽️ Finn Hoban
⚽️ Adam Zborowski

It was a beautiful Saturday morning in Worklab Connors Park for football, with the grass pitch in immaculate condition. Once again, the boys weren’t fazed by playing up an age and took the game to their opponents from the opening whistle.
We deservedly took the lead before half-time, with Odhran scoring directly from a corner!
The pick of the goals came shortly into the second half, when Finn finished into the far top corner from 20 yards after a fantastic sequence of passing. A brilliant team goal that showcased the quality of football the boys are displaying. Adam then rounded off the scoring with a well-taken goal to seal an excellent 3–0 victory.

Overall, this was one of our best football displays and is another great example of the strides the boys are making in their football development.

Many thanks to the referee for an excellent job, and to St Fiacc’s for making the journey down and providing a sporting and competitive encounter. Finally, thanks to all the family and friends who came along to support the boys. Your support means a lot to the team! 🟢⚪️🟢⚪️

U12 SFAI Round 2
Stoneyford 0-2 Villa A

We played away this afternoon & were welcomed by Stoneyford
The first half turned out to be an extremely tight affair with little or nothing separating both teams at end of the half.
Villa eventually broke the deadlock in the 11th Minute of the second half with a well taken goal from Lucas.
It was end to end stuff from then on with both sides going for it with both unlucky not to score.
The game was ultimately decided in the 26th minute when Luke grabbed Villa’s second and put the game beyond the reach of Stoneyford.
Just to say well done to Stoneyford squad & management who were very well setup, resolute & organised team of players & who made it an ultra competitive & difficult game against Villa this afternoon.
Thanks to the Referee for giving up his time & not forgetting both sets of supporters who turned up to cheer on the lads.
Also thanks to Stoneyford for opening up their clubhouse & for light refreshments for all after the game.

U10 Red League.

It was away to Ballyduff today for this U9 team. Even though the boys went behind 2-0 in the first half, they never gave up. They battled hard and soon got their first goal from Jaxon Keating. Another quick goal from David Murphy put the boys back in it. Villa looked in control and soon scored to put them 3-2 up thanks to Conor Adams. However in the dying minutes Ballyduff managed to get an equalizer. Great preference from all the boys with a special mention to Tommy Carroll in defense 👏.

We met St Josephs for second time in as many weeks on a sunny morning for another hotly anticipated game. We were quick out of the traps and had numerous opportunities to ahead early on with Finn Hogan Dowling denied by keeper, then having one cleared off line before Luke Power headed narrowly over from close range. Finn was then fouled in the box after showing great speed to beat the defender but the resulting penalty went narrowly wide. Ethan Young & Ted Joyce were getting great joy out wide at every opportunity & we deservedly went ahead on 19 mins when Finn was denied by a superb save but Luke was quickest to react to tap home. The same pair combined for the 2nd goal on 26 mins when Finn crossed for Luke to double our lead. Charlie Power made a great save to keep us 2 up at break before Alfie Barnaville & Kamal Elmahi both making superb blocks that summed up a superb first half.

The second half began as we continued to control the game with Jake Huggard & Christov Omoigui bossing the game in midfield. We added a third when Finn was fouled again in the box and Ted slotted home the penalty. It was four on our next attack when Oisin Sullivan’s flick found Christov to bundle the ball over the line. To St Jospehs credit they didnt drop their heads and continued to put us under pressure but Remy Fitzpatrick reading of the game was superb to cut out any attacks. We saw out the game really well to keep a well deserved clean sheet and 3 points.

Thanks to St Josephs for a sporting game and to the referee for letting the game flow. Special recognition also to parents, family & club members for the fantastic support this morning.

A hard fought and scrappy at times win. We controlled early stages and were 2 up after 18 minutes. We let a never give up Park Rangers back into it and it was anyone's game for a while. 2 insurance goals near end saw out the game. Oskar was tireless in midfield and connected well with those around him, MOTM.
