Waterford City Rugby Club

Results from this past weekends matches.

Our 16’s had a great win against a dogged Midleton RFC on Sunday at home to top their Pan Munster Conference. Some tough rugby played between the top two teams in their group.

Sorry to see the referee go down injured with cramp but luckily a MAR official was able to jump in and finish out the game as he had travelled with Kilfeacle U-14’s so a big thank you to him for enabling the game to be played out to a finish.

Thanks to all who came out to support our teams.

On Friday evening, our U-11’s welcomed Tramore Rugby Football Club to Kilbarry for a Friendly training session/match.

A 6pm kick off meant perfect weather for some good rugby and with the pitch cut, marked and lined… It didn’t disappoint. Some great quality rugby played by both sides which bodes well for the future. Hopefully more matches like this can be played throughout the season.

This took place on our HW Fasteners mini pitch. With the community in Kilbarry ever increasing, having amenities like our minis pitch helps us to facilitate these kinda matches.

A big thank you to our friends ENCON who sponsored our U-11’s set of jerseys.

Well done to Ard Scoil Na Mara in Tramore on a fantastic start to their Kings Cup campaign with a win against Waterpark College.

Out of a panel of 24 players, 20 are on our U-16 squad who are unbeaten so far in their Pan Munster campaign… showing the quality coached into them for both school & club.

Well done lads and best of luck for the rest of the season. 💪🏼🏉

🖤💛 JOHNVILLE FC – A COMMUNITY IN MOURNING 💛🖤

Everyone at Johnville FC is absolutely heartbroken and devastated by the tragic events in Waterford.

Kim and Philip were familiar and friendly faces around our club, always there supporting Callum at his matches. It is incredibly difficult to comprehend that a family we knew so well has been taken from us in such tragic circumstances.

Callum was part of the Johnville FC family for five years, starting out in our academy before progressing through our underage teams from U11 to U14. He was part of our U11 team that proudly won the league two seasons ago. All his team mates and coaches are absolutely devastated by the news, this pain of this tragedy will take a long time to heal.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with all the family, their relatives and friends following this unimaginable loss. We are also thinking of those who are still fighting for their lives in hospital, and we sincerely hope they can pull through.

We would appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist Gardaí with their investigation to please come forward and contact the authorities. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be important.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help with funeral expenses. We are sharing the link below for anyone who wishes to contribute and support the family during this heartbreaking time.

Football is about so much more than what happens on the pitch. It is about people, friendships and community. Today, our Johnville family and the surrounding community is hurting alongside everyone who knew and loved this family.

From everyone at Johnville FC, we send our love and deepest condolences to all those affected. You will always be part of our club family.

RIP Kim, Phillip, Jayden and Callum 💛🖤
