Truth stands out clear from error. Here is an e-mail from a resident of Champion Care Homes and what changes he would like for him to come back: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: doclaw Date: 30 September 2017 at 21:09 Subject: REMARKABLE AND SELFLESS SERVICE TO CHAMPION CARE HOMES (at THABORE) BY DR M. RAFIQUE To: Mohamed Essa Rafique Cc: palaniswamy sunder raj , Nataraja Nadar Kanagavel My dear Dr Rafique, Due to the sudden and unforeseen expenditure that the family had to incur on account of my Mother's hospitalization, I was forced to pull out of Champion Care Homes, much against my wishes. I have been wanting to write to you and express our dismay after we visited Champion Care Homes some time in the not too distant past and found that you were, for reasons which no one was willing to explain, no longer part of that organization. To say that this was a shock, to Valsa & self would be an under-statement. I say this because Champion Care WAS YOU and all the blood, sweat and tears that you had poured into it was more than AMPLY evident. I really liked that place for many reasons (we 'fell in love with' the place on our FIRST visit), as would be evident from my Testimonial which you had posted on your web-site (don't know if it is still there). I have in my emails to you and to the other Partners of Champion Homes expressed my liking for your Home and I had hoped that it would go from strength to strength. What I liked about Champion Homes under YOUR direction were :- 1) The friendliness of the Staff, their devotion to duty and their ever-readiness to serve. 2) The cleanliness and the ambiance of the Home. 3) The LONG daily briefing sessions that you and the Staff had early every morning. 4) The get-up of the Dining Hall (simple but TASTEFUL), the VARIED menu every single day of the week, the tastiness of the food and the cheerful smiles on each of your kitchen / mess-hall staff, the meal TIMINGS and the MENU displayed for the week on the Mess-Hall Board. 5) The rooms were well laid out and cleaned each day (without reminders) 6) The air-conditioning and the TV were always functional. 7) MOST of ALL > what I appreciated the MOST was the PERSONAL and HUMAN touch that was evident in all activities at the Home. It truly was a CARE home (in the finest sense) during your time 8) Work on the roof was well in progress when I last saw the place and appears to have slowed down AFTER your departure 9) The 'needs' of a senior-citizen aren't too many and I was pleasantly surprised that everyone of them were visibly fulfilled ) 10) Another aspect that I liked was your willingness to listen to and absorb constructive criticism and practical suggestions and the fact that you had "copy-pasted" these into a separate file for future reference. I'll reiterate this again UNEQUIVOCALLY, that I would love to come back to Champion if it gets back to the same ETHOS that existed in YOUR time - it'd take about 30 minutes max to figure out what is happening and the worth of the place. Sadly, WITHOUT malice to anyone, such is NOT the case presently as staff will always 'remain staff' and CANNOT fit into the shoes of a Resident Manager, no matter how dedicated / honest they are. If we are NOT careful, the good name that Champion has earned can VERY EASILY be lost in a flash; wish this will NEVER happen. After 31 years in the Air Force, the bulk of it as a fighter-pilot, a ground instructor, a flying instructor and a Chief Flying Instructor, I firmly believe that any organization runs on the engine of its top man's VISION, DEDICATION, DOGGEDNESS and HUMANENESS, among other qualities. You have displayed this in AMPLE MEASURE, I must say, during the 4-5 times that we interacted and also through the innumerable emails we exchanged. I wish that all goes well for you and Feroza. We offer full service retirement communities to senior citizens looking for a comfortable and secure option post retirement.

The first of several planned retirement communities, built to world class standards, has been established at Olive Mount, near Angamally, about twenty kilometers from the International Airport in Ernakulam District.

Mission: Champion Care Homes will offer residency to seniors for independent living, from early 2014. Very different from the many "old age homes", this community offers a luxurious & clean ambience with a host of services for seniors.

It seemed like a usual nursing home with usual patients. However, in that dull space somewhere there was a man who was beautifully scripting about his life during his last days in a form of heart-touching poem. Mak Filiser, 86, died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home and since he had no visitors, the nurses believed that he left nothing behind of any real value.

But the day a nurse came to clean out Mak’s room after he passed on, everything changed. One of the nurses noticed something. It was a poem that Mak had written. She proceeded to read it and was so floored by his words that she ended up making copies of it and sharing with every employee at the nursing home.

In today's world when children are leaving their parents at old age homes, this should be an eye opener. Our parents and grandparents raise us, care for us, and love us and then one day we forget all about them. The poem is entitled; “Cranky Old Man” and it no doubt give us some very valuable lessons. Take a look…

Cranky Old Man by Mak Filiser

What do you see nurses? What do you see?

What are you thinking…when you’re looking at me?

A cranky old man…not very wise,

Uncertain of habit…with faraway eyes?

Who dribbles his food…and makes no reply.

When you say in a loud voice…I do wish you’d try!’

Who seems not to notice…the things that you do.

And forever is losing…A sock or shoe?

Who, resisting or not…lets you do as you will,

With bathing and feeding…The long day to fill?

Is that what you’re thinking? Is that what you see?

Then open your eyes, nurse…you’re not looking at me.

I’ll tell you who I am . . . . .. As I sit here so still,

As I do at your bidding…as I eat at your will.

I’m a small child of Ten…with a father and mother,

Brothers and sisters…who love one another

A young boy of Sixteen…with wings on his feet

Dreaming that soon now…a lover he’ll meet.

A groom soon at Twenty…my heart gives a leap.

Remembering, the vows…that I promised to keep

At Twenty-Five, now…I have young of my own.

Who need me to guide…And a secure happy home.

A man of Thirty…My young now grown fast,

Bound to each other…With ties that should last.

At Forty, my young sons…have grown and are gone,

But my woman is beside me…to see I don’t mourn.

At Fifty, once more…Babies play ’round my knee,

Again, we know children…My loved one and me.

Dark days are upon me…My wife is now dead.

I look at the future…I shudder with dread.

For my young are all rearing…young of their own.

And I think of the years…And the love that I’ve known.

I’m now an old man…and nature is cruel.

It’s jest to make old age…look like a fool.

The body, it crumbles…grace and vigor, depart.

There is now a stone…where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass a young man still dwells,

And now and again…my battered heart swells

I remember the joys…I remember the pain.

And I’m loving and living…life over again.

I think of the years, all too few…gone too fast.

And accept the stark fact…that nothing can last.

So open your eyes, people…open and see.

Not a cranky old man.

Look closer…see…ME!!

A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by.

The jet Pilot decided to show off.

The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, “Watch this!”
And promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a
steep climb.

He then finished with a sonic boom as he broke
the sound barrier.

The F-16 pilot asked the C-130 pilot what he thought
of that?

The C-130 pilot said, “That was impressive, but watch this!”

The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 pilot came back on and said, “What did you think of that?”

Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, “What the heck did you do?”

The C-130 pilot chuckled.
“I stood up, stretched my legs, walked to the back,
used the toilet, then got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll.”

Story of a Father and a Son at a Restaurant

A son took his father to a restaurant to enjoy a delicious dinner. His father was of advanced age, and therefore, a little weak, too. While he was eating, a little bit of food fell from time to time on his shirt and his trousers. The other diners watched the older man with their faces distorted in disgust, but his son remained totally calm.

Once both were done eating, the son, without being remotely ashamed, helped his father by taking him to the restroom. He cleaned up the leftovers from his wrinkled face, and tried to wash the stains of food from his clothes. He lovingly combed his hair gray and I finally got his glasses cleaned. On the way out of the restroom, a profound silence reigned in the restaurant. The son was going to pay the bill and get ready to escort his father out of the restaurant. Just then a man rose from his chair among the diners, and asked the son " don't you think that you've left something here? "The young man replied, "No, I haven't missed anything". Then the stranger said to him, " Yes you've left something! You left here a lesson for each child, and hope for every parent!" The entire restaurant was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop.

One of the biggest honors that exists, is the ability to take care of those older adults who cared for us. Our parents, and all those elderly who sacrificed their lives, with time, money, effort and unconditional love. They deserve our utmost respect. If you also feel respect for older adults, share this story with all your friends.
