But normal does not always mean healthy. Popular does not always mean right. And that is why teaching our kids discernment matters more than ever.

Discernment is not about judging others. It is about thinking deeply. It is about asking why instead of blindly following the crowd. I want my kids to understand that trends fade, opinions shift, and society changes. But values, character, and integrity are what keep you grounded when everything around you feels loud and confusing.

There will be moments when doing the right thing makes them feel different. There will be pressure to fit in, to go along, to stay quiet. That is where discernment becomes power. The ability to pause and say this may be common, but it does not align with who I am. That kind of strength protects them in ways rules never could.

I do not want to raise children who simply copy what they see. I want to raise thinkers. I want them to question, to reflect, to stand firm in their beliefs even if they stand alone. Because in a world where wrong can easily look normal, the greatest gift we can give our kids is the courage to choose wisely.
