Its Navarathri days in Kerala...But we don't see elephants during this time...Decorated Elephants are an integral part of the Mysore Dasara Festival...The elephants form the core of the Mysore Dasara procession on the Vijayadashami day...So we planned to celebrate Dasara instead of Navarathri for a change... It took us about 2 and half hours to finish these beautiful decorated elephants...Loved the Patience of the children..

Last time it was Flowers...This time it is sweet, beautiful nectar sucking butterflies...The looks of the butterfly varies with the ages of children, but recreating butterflies with craft paper made it have the same looks...but with different colours :)

Flowers are always an attraction for kids..Be it a boy or girl.. Have seen kids make their first attempt in drawing with a flower.. Today we tried to make colorful flowers using colour papers... The balance time was spent by reading the story of Harischandra and Shibi..where the Qualities of Honesty and Sacrifice was upheld by these patrons...intended to input the necessity for development of these qualities in children

Last week I gave the children a chance to make "My Box", wherein they can keep their favorite items..They were also given a chance to speak a few lines about the objects in "MY BOX".. I was so happy to see the collections of the children - It started from the shells, the woolly pod(Appoppanthadi - Thanks to Siji Varghese my school mate for getting the English name of Appooppan Thadi)- , favorite cars, toys, which their parents presented, watch, ball, pencil... - Explanations gone to places from where they got, whom they got, why it became their favourite etc..I felt children are Smart enough to remember the person who gave these small small objects..... Feeling that when we elders often forget the people who helped us in our bad times.....these children are great to remember the people who gave them these small small things.. ...Salute them....

I know its very difficult when children mess up the house with colours, mess up the dress with colours, mess up their hands with colours..But the fun they got in making those beautiful pictures using sponge shapes were amazing.. An outdoor session with a discussion on vegetables and the vitamins we get amidst the vegetable garden and small exercises made their session before the Onam Holidays perfect

This week we made a beautiful card to be sent to dear ones by making flowers using a punch...It was indeed like making a floral carpet. It really needed so much of patience on the part of the children to stick these punched flowers on the chart paper..as the same was so thin... I appreciate their effort and their attitude for making it so perfect .. Their posture will clearly explain the same..
