𝐆𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐲𝐦 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧... 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Everyone applauds the person who says,

"𝐈 𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐲𝐦 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞."
"I buried myself in work."
"I stayed busy."

But very few ask:

"𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞?"

One of my clients Rahul (name changed for confidentiality) is a Vice President at an emerging real estate company.

On paper, he looked like he had moved on.

He had become disciplined.
He never missed the gym.
He was rebuilding his career.
He had even started looking for love again.

Yet every evening, when he returned to an empty home, silence became unbearable.

And every morning, he rushed to the gym because that was the only place he felt alive.

When we began working together, he said something I'll never forget:
"𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐲𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞."

My response was gentle.
"𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐲𝐦 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞."

Movement is powerful.

Exercise releases endorphins, reduces stress hormones, and supports mental well being.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Think of it like anaesthesia.

It can numb the pain during surgery.

But it doesn't repair the wound.

That's what happens when we suppress emotions instead of expressing them.

The pain doesn't disappear.

It often changes its form.

It becomes:

• Stress that never switches off.
• Anxiety before bedtime.
• Overthinking every conversation.
• Irritability over small things.
• Anger that surprises even you.
• Resentment toward people who never caused the original hurt.

As an Emotional Leadership Coach, I've learned this:

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐲. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲'𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡.

They don't ask to control your life.

They ask to be acknowledged.

Change begins the moment you stop asking,

"How do I stop feeling this?"
and start asking,

"𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞?"

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do isn't lifting heavier weights.

It's allowing yourself to put down the emotional weight you've been carrying alone.

𝐈𝐟 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 "𝐈'𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡," 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠... 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲'𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬.

How many times have you said...
"𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘐 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳."
"𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘐'𝘮 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩."
"𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺'𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘦."

Despite, the relationship ends.

You Pause.

You meet someone new.

They're different.

Different personality.
Different profession.
Different family.
Different city.

Yet somehow...

The ending feels painfully familiar.

And you start questioning yourself again.

"𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦?"

Here's something I often share with the professionals I coach.

𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬.

When the feeling of "I'm not enough" keeps showing up across different relationships, it's worth asking a different question.

𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠... 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬?

Many of us grew up believing love had to be earned.

By achieving more.

Giving more.

Adjusting more.

Keeping everyone happy.

So when someone becomes distant, doesn't communicate, or pulls away, the nervous system doesn't simply experience disappointment.

It often interprets it as:

"𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩."

That's why changing partners alone rarely changes the pattern.

Because the subconscious keeps searching for what's emotionally familiar... even when it's painful.

The real transformation begins when you stop asking,

"𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐞?"

and start asking,

"Why does my worth still depend on someone else's choice?"

That question changes everything.

Not because it changes your partner.

But because it changes the relationship you have with yourself.

And from that place, you stop chasing validation.

You start choosing emotional safety.
