MALKAJGIRI POLICE DETECT CHILD MURDER CASE AND ARREST ACCUSED WITHIN 24 HOURS.

Brief Facts of the Incident
On 10.10.2026, a complaint was received from Sri Milton Fernandes Moses, aged 44 years, a Research Scientist working at SEEDWORKS International Limited and residing at Villa No. 84, Villa Orchids, behind Janapriya Apartments, Kowkoor, regarding the disappearance of his five-year-old daughter, Aurelia @ Monu, who was studying in PP-2.
The child usually played with her bicycle in the games zone at the clubhouse of their gated residential community at around 6:00 PM and ordinarily returned home by 7:00 PM. On the day of the incident, at around 7:45 PM, after returning from the office, her father learned that an unknown person had telephoned and claimed that the child was in his custody. Subsequently, the complainant also received a call from the same mobile number, during which the caller allegedly demanded a ransom of ₹20,00,000 and stated that he was in Secunderabad.
Based on the complaint, Bollaram Police registered a case in Crime No. 243/2026 under Section 140(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation into the suspected kidnapping.
Immediately, search operations were launched with ten special teams comprising personnel from Malkajgiri Zone, SOT, Crimes and the Special Branch. Simultaneously, technical investigations were undertaken using the suspected mobile number, call details, available CCTV footage and other technical leads to trace the child.
As the child could not be traced through the initial searches and examination of available CCTV footage, the police intensified the search across the gated residential community, including the clubhouse and adjoining areas.
During the search, the child’s body was found inside a water sump in the clubhouse cellar. The scene was examined, and scientific and forensic investigations were initiated to ascertain the facts of the case.

Hyderabad Child Murder Case: Security Guard Arrested for Kidnapping and Murder
During the investigation, police focused on Vikram Kumar, who had previously worked as a security guard at Villa Orchids from 22 September 2026 to 6 October 2026. His employment details, residential particulars at Kowkoor, work history and association with his roommates were examined to verify the available leads.
On 11 October 2026, at 4:30 PM, the accused, Vikram Kumar, son of Sadhu Sharan Prasad, a native of Nalanda district in Bihar, was apprehended.
During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to murdering the child as part of a plan to demand a ransom of ₹20 lakh from her parents. He further admitted that he entered the gated community at around 6:40 PM on 10 October 2026 with the intention of kidnapping the girl and demanding ransom.
According to the police, the accused was greedy for quick money and was unwilling to work as a labourer. He allegedly planned to kidnap the girl and demand a huge ransom from her parents. However, believing that he could not keep the girl with him until the ransom was paid, he allegedly decided to kill her and concealed her body in a water sump in the cellar, as the area was rarely visited by residents.
The accused was arrested on 11 October 2026 and is being produced before the court. Police stated that the investigation would be completed at the earliest and that the case would be pursued before a Fast Track Court, with efforts to seek the maximum punishment permissible under law.
The tragic incident has raised serious concerns about security in gated communities. The case highlights the importance of thorough background verification of security personnel, proper employment checks and effective residential security measures, rather than relying solely on access control systems and security guards.

Malkajgiri Police urge all Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), apartment associations and residents to participate in the Mee Suraksha – Domestic Helpers Verification Initiative and Nenu Saitham 2.0 – CCTV Surveillance Programme.
Awareness meetings are being conducted across residential communities to emphasise the importance of background verification and encourage the registration of domestic helpers, security personnel and watchmen to strengthen residential safety. A similar meeting was also held in this particular colony, encouraging residents to register the details of workers employed as domestic helpers, security personnel and watchmen.
The successful investigation and apprehension of the accused within 24 hours are appreciated. The officers involved in the case will be suitably rewarded for their efforts.
