An Olympian, a former captain of the Indian national team, and a beacon of grace and determination on the field, his legacy has inspired generations. To have him among us at the Khel Foundation Under-15 Boys Hockey Cup Tournament was not just an honor—it was a moment we will carry in our hearts forever.
Gurbux Singh Ji’s presence at this tournament reminded us all of what true sportsmanship looks like. Hello friends, I am Prem Singh, a former Hockey player of West Bengal. I started playing at the age of 8, and I played Mini Junior when I was 9 years old, which was held in Delhi (1982) at the time of the Asian Games. I also played school nationals, 2nd division league in Calcutta (now Kolkata), Pankaj Gupta Tournament, Batan cup, also played Junior National in 1986, and attended several camps around Kolkata. I was a high scorer, by 36 goals the 6-A-Side Bholanath Pan Hockey Tournament. I was a high scorer in the Tournament, played interstate tournaments, and was also selected in the SAI camp in the year 1990. It was the 1st Batch in Salt Lake then. I was there for about 2.5 years, but due to an ankle injury, I had to leave my sports midway. Now, after a 30-year gap, I have come back to support Hockey and feel glad to become a member of Khel Foundation.

What a finish! The U-15 Six-a-Side Hockey Tournament blazed to a thrilling conclusion—one that will be remembered for years to come. What started with energy and ambition ended in roars of victory, tears of pride, and hearts full of inspiration.
From the very first whistle, Khel Foundation’s vision came alive—empowering children from all walks of life to rise, compete, and believe in the power of sport. Over the past days, the AstroTurf at Khalsa English High School transformed into a battleground of dreams, where sticks clashed, and futures were sparked.
Day of the finale? Electric.
The atmosphere was supercharged as Olympian Gurbux Singh, a living legend and gold medalist, stood among the young hopefuls, sharing stories, wisdom, and smiles. Just his presence lit a fire in the hearts of these aspiring stars.
Adding to the event's prestige, Shri Ajey Mukund Ranade, IPS, currently serving as the Advisor (Security and Vigilance) at WBSEDCL, honored the occasion with his presence, emphasizing the importance of discipline and perseverance in both sports and life.
The tournament witnessed fierce competition, culminating in Behala Sports Corner Hockey Academy clinching the championship title, while Kolkata Warriors secured the runner-up position with commendable performances.
This event wasn't just about competition; it was a celebration of dreams, determination, and the unyielding spirit of youth. Khel Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to nurture grassroots talent, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to shine.

Day 1: Turf Ablaze with Talent and Inspiration!
The U-15 Six-a-Side Boys Hockey Tournament commenced with electrifying energy, setting the AstroTurf alight with youthful passion and purpose. The event was graced by our esteemed Chief Guest, Shri Devendra Prakash Singh, IPS, a 2002-batch officer currently serving as the Additional Commissioner of Kolkata Police. His presence and keynote address provided both gravitas and inspiration, setting a powerful tone for the tournament's spirit of discipline and excellence .
The opening ceremony featured a warm felicitation of Shri Singh, followed by his stirring speech that emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication.
The tournament brought together young talents from across Bengal, who showcased their skills and determination on the field. Adding to the excitement, experienced national and international hockey players were present, offering guidance and sharing their experiences, thereby enriching the young athletes' exposure and understanding of the game.
The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm, as the blend of youthful energy and seasoned expertise created a vibrant and motivating environment.
