Match Day #7 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers FC 2-1 Sara FA
Going into this match the team was looking for nothing less than a win. Sara FA had already lost 3 matches out of 5 they played but the losses were against strong opponents hence this fixture was tricky.
We fielded the same team that started against Vision Rescue FC. The game started with Sara FA having some good possession of the ball while we kept losing the ball. Slowly we grew into the game with having more possession and eventually having more chances. We scored in the 9 minute of the game with Sashi Bhaskar assisting Sanket Malvankar our new signing. Sanket kept making the run inspite the opponent being in close distance of the ball eventually getting the ball after a critical defensive error by the opponent. A calm finish ensured Sanket is up and running for this season.
Second goal also came quite quick with Sahil Godse picking into the error made by the opponent’s defence line. Within 20 minutes we were 2-0. Meanwhile Sara too had their fair luck of chances but our custodian Pratham saved couple of crucial attempts one of which was going in.
First half we saw close to 50% of the possession.
Second half the team started strong for the first 10 minutes post which the opponent scored due to a defensive mixup between our keeper and the defence line.
Thereon Sara looked to score by keeping a lot of possession. Sara came close to scoring on one such occasion where the opponent took advantage of our unorganised defence line with a cutback which the opponent failed to convert hitting the crossbar from as close as small D area.
Last 15 minutes saw us defending for our life while Sahil Bhayan got a one on one chance against the keeper but couldn’t score in the dying minutes of the game. Second half we had close to 30% of the possession which shows how bad we were in the second half.
The game was challenging as it was a very physical game with lot of stoppages. Not a single player picked a yellow card.
In this cat and mouse race we again go to the top of the table. We enter the business end of the group stages.

Match Day #3 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers FC 2-1 Oranje FC
Two teams from Powai go head to head and the Powai derby belonged to us.
Going into this match the team knew that they had to claim all 3 points as the opponents had lost 2 matches before this match.
Both teams started cautious with Oranje having a bit more of possession in the starting 10 minutes. Eventually our team too started playing freely on the ball and started seeing more of the ball. Within 5 minutes Oranje got a free kick close to the D area. Opponent took a good kick but equally good was our custodian save to fend off the danger.
After this initial scare we started attacking and one such attack resulted in a goal with Ajay Shelar assisting pinpoint accurate ball to our winger Ganesh Kalel who chipped the charging keeper.
Soon after on the 22nd minute Nachiket caught the opponent keeper off-guard scoring a long ranger. Thereon the team started keeping more of the ball and the team looked quite comfortable. There were few attacks from both sides as both teams were trying to build up more often than not. Opponents came close to scoring after an unforced error caused by our defence gave the opponent the opening they were looking for but again our custodian ensured the goal line wasn’t breached.
First half our team had possession close to 55% with more attacks.
Second half we came closer to score another one when Nachiket took a shot from inside the D area only to manage to sting the keepers palm. Second half saw our keeper in a very comfortable position throughout the half with very less chances coming his way.
In the dying minutes of the game our team conceded on counter which was a debate-able decision whether the scorer was offside making it 2-1.
We fielded two Under-17 lads in this match and it was the biggest positive for us. Second half the team had close to 60% possession.
We now have 9 points in 3 games and second on the table with less games than the current topper.
In the past 3 weeks we’ve played 6 games and collected all 18 points with both youth & senior team doing well.
Thanks to our supporters for coming to support us.

Match Day #6 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers Youth FC 3-0 Vision Rescue
Going into this game boys were looking for nothing other than 3 points and that’s what the team achieved.
The lacking bench strength was evident for this match but the boys stood up to the challenge by scoring 3 goals.
Within 5 minutes we had our first goal by Sahil Godse who was through on goal with only the keeper to beat and he calmly slotted the ball in the back of the net.
Second goal too didn’t take much time to come with Devesh our winger scoring who went past the opponents defence and slotted the ball in the back of the net.
First half saw numerous attempts which should’ve been converted. First half our team had close to 65% possession and the score line could’ve been completely different had we taken our chances.
Second half also team started strong building attacks after attacks. Second half also we missed multiple chances including several one-on-ones. Third goal of the game came from Jarren who went past couple of defenders with his silky touch and calmly finishing past the keeper. This was a game where we should’ve scored atleast 7-8 goals but this has been the story every season. Our goal to attack ratios is on a decline and team would look to work on it. We had close to 60% possession in second half.
Good part was having all the players getting game time in this match.
The team will now have a short break and will look to build on the mistakes. We enter the business end of the group stages currently topping the group with 14 points in 6 matches.
We’ve won all the 9 possible points in the last 3 weeks. Thanks to our supporters who came to see and support the youth team.

Match Day #5 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers Youth FC 2-1 Unido FC
Last year the same teams went up and against and that time we were the winner in the playoffs off stage and this year too we did the double with the same score line.
We altered the score line within the first 10 minutes with a picture perfect assist by Mukesh Kumar our center mid who split the opponent’s defence with pinpoint accuracy with Durwank making run and finishing at the far end. Both assist and the goal were poetic experience.
First half we had good control of the game with we coming closer to scoring on few more occasions. Closest chance that the opponents had was when our defence did not manage to clear the ball in our D area and the opponent striker took a rocket of a shot but our shot-stopper Pratham kept it out. This was the only alarming attempt the opponent had in the first half. We had close to 55% possession in the first half.
Second half started with some changes in the lineup and the game started getting more intense. During the entire second half there were many fouls and the game was getting very physical. Second half the opponents were looking to equalise while pressing high which our attack exploited with Devesh making a run in the opponent D area and was tripped by the opponent which resulted in penalty.
Sashi who’s our penalty specialist took charge of this penalty but unfortunately missed the spot kick. Immediately after that we kept pressing for a goal and we eventually got our second goal. Ronaldo Nair took a shot from out of the D area which went in the goal at the most perfect angle it could’ve gone in.
The opponent started pressing and were in search for the goals but our resilient defending didn’t let them pass by. It was a game of multiple stoppages one of which was just outside D which the opponent scored with a rocket shot going through our wall which couldn’t maintain the shape.
Second half we saw around 35-40% possession and it was a well fought victory. A game of stoppages where we had better chances and the score line should’ve been different. We top the table with 11 points out of 15 possible. We play next on 15th May at 9 AM 💪🏾

Match Day #2 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers FC 1-0 Worli SC
After a walkover in the last match boys were fully charged up to bag another 3 points and that’s exactly what they did.
Going into this match the boys knew that a win is a must and the boys started attacking right from the word go
Boys created multiple chances and came close on several occasions. One such moment came where there was no one between the keeper and our winger Ganesh Kalel but the opponent keeper had different idea making a wonderful save.
Our new signing had his one-on-one chance too but only to be denied by the opponent keeper. Another chance went begging when Yash Shivankar our striker missed an open chance in front of the goal.
Meanwhile opponents too came close to scoring with a free kick not cleared well but our ace keeper Ajay Kundar was there to our rescue as always. One of the rare chances that the opponents troubled our keeper.
First half ended as it had started at 0-0 with close to 55% possession in our favour.
Second half also started with frantic action where boys were trying to break the deadlock. Winger Sharven Desale started taking on defenders like knife on butter and opponents didn’t have any answer to him. Sharven too had his own fair amount of chances only for the opponent keeper to deny.
Second half saw more possession in our favour with few changes bringing in the freshness that was required. The ball started flowing freely with these new changes fielded.
Finally came the moment when the deadlock was broken when Nachiket after switching position crossed the ball towards the second pole only for Rajiv Yadav to setup the ball for Joel Dsouza who calmly slotted the ball into the net.
Joel Dsouza also came close with another one-one-one with the keeper only for him trying to chip the keeper but the opponent keeper too did well by fending off the threat.
If the team starts scoring more frequently for the chances we had then we’re in a treat for this season.
We now have +6 points and stand second on the table with just 2 matches

Match Day #4 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers FC 3-0 Maurya FC (Walkover)
Another walkover but this time not due to opponents not turning up but not having alternate kit. After a lot of discussion and suggestions with MFA the match had to be concluded as a walkover.
Another game where we wanted to play but couldn’t go against MFA decision.

Match Day #1 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers FC 3-0 India Rush SC (Walkover)
Not the way we wanted +3 points as opposition didn’t turn up till 02:30 PM.
The entire team was disappointed as this match was postponed earlier by the same opponents. Blessing in disguise was that we played against each other and some valuable lessons especially for the young players of the team.
We go back to the drawing board and prepare for our next match.

Match Day #3 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers Youth FC 0-0 Ground Mechanix SA
After drawing the last match against IIT B the team was motivated to take on Ground Mechanix SA which had got the better of us last year in the Quarter Finals of Third Division but unfortunately the game ended the way it started at 0-0 🤯
The game started for us on a positive note where the team got some good attempts on the opponents goal but soon the opponents too started attacking us. Some lapses in our defence line gave opponents some close chances which was fended off well by our keeper Pratham 🧤
Our keeper saved close to 2-3 one on one in the first half and ensuring the deadlock was not broken. First half also saw us getting some good chances which couldn’t be converted. We had close to 40-45% possession in the first half and both teams had chance to equalise but failed to do so 😕
Second half started subdued for our team as the opponents kept pressing and tried to score but the team maintained good shape and balance which it has been maintaining since the start of the season🫡
Some forced substitutions made us lose the grip of the game but the team still managed to maintain their shape and balance. Although second half the opponents attacked more but the chances weren’t clean😤
In terms of attacking sense second half was a disaster for us and we had only 30% possession while we kept losing the ball while we tried to transition ♐️
Although the entire defence had a bad day but still they managed to keep clean sheet. Another draw difficult to swallow and we deserved 💯 to get that one point for maintaining our shape and balance well throughout the game 🙌🏽
Well played to Ground Mechanix SA 👏 Not everyday do we get dominated by opponents and today was one such exception. When the team steps onto the pitch we don’t wish to settle anything lesser than a win 💪🏾
Thanks to our loyal supporters who turned up to support the team 🫶🏻
After 3 matches we have 5 points and we move onto the next match on 19th April.

Match #2 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers Youth FC 1-1 IIT Bombay
After a good start to our debut season we went up and against IIT Bombay, a known team whom we’ve played against multiple times in the past and result ended in a stalemate 😵💫
We started with the same lineup as the last match with just Pratham missing out due to a ni**le. Kaustubh was our guardian for this game 🧤
We started the game positively and came closer on multiple occasions. Our strikers kept knocking the doors but all in vain. Closest chance of the first half came when Durwank was through on goal and couldn’t slot the ball in the net from as close at 12-15 yards.
Just around 15 minutes in the game a blunder by the referee costed us a goal. The opponents were awarded a goal inspite the opponent being in a clear offside position. No 4th official present while we objected! 🤬
First half the team tried to score but wasted a whole lot of chances. Our youth team had almost close to 60% possession in the first half 🤦🏾♂️
Second half saw some changes with Asaad & Sashi coming in while we were looking for goals ⚽️
Second half too we kept attacking with more than 70% possession while hitting the crossbar and relentless pressure on our opponents eventually giving into it 😍
From set-piece we attempted to score 🥅 which resulted in penalty due to opponents hand ball in the D area. calmly took the penalty and opened his account. An emotional moment for our star player 🥺🫶🏻
With this draw we drop 2 points which we should’ve picked easily. Almost close to 15 attempts but only one goal was converted as opposed to the opponents who hardly worked our keeper 😡
Referees blunder combined with bad finishing has costed us to drop 2 crucial points. The entire team morale was down as we settle for nothing less than a win every time we step onto the pitch. Some comforting words by the coach did bring back the calmness the lads needed. The team will work hard in training sessions and come back stronger and better 💪🏾
Thanks to our loyal supporters who turned up. You’re our 12th man 😍

Match Day #1 Update:
G.K.W. Rangers Youth FC 3-1 Malwani SA
We start our season and our debut match in MFA Second Division Championship with a win 😍 over Malwani SA.
We started the match on the front foot and scoring our first goal of the season inside 10 minutes with a delightful finish by Durwank Bhogle 😍
As delightful the goal was it was equally assisted well by Sahil Bhayan 👶🏻 who started the game as AMF for us
Second goal was scored by Sahil Godse 🏍️ who controlled the ball with his chest inside opponents D-area before slotting the ball into the net. This time Durwank 🙌🏽 turned the provider for this goal with pin-point crossing to Sahil Godse.
Another goal came in quick when free-kick in the opponents half was converted by Vishal Sawant who rushed for the header and managed to put the ball in the back of the net 🥅 Ronaldo Nair Ronaldo Nair turned the assister this time round.
First half saw close to 70% possession 💪🏾by our team as the team relentlessly attacked the opponents goal with hitting the sidebar on one occasion too.
Second half started not as the way we imagined as we conceded by an excellent long range effort by the opponent which hit the crossbar and went into the net. Second half also saw 3 changes at a time which further gave the opponents the opening they were looking for.
Second half saw the opponents having a touch shade more of the ball ⚽️ while our team relied on counters more often.
Our team too came close on scoring on multiple occasions and the second half was equally contested by both teams.
Ideally we would’ve liked to increase our GD and kept a clean sheet but nevertheless the opponents shot deserved the goal they were looking for.
We will look to build on this and improve on our mistakes 💪🏾
We thank our loyal supporters who turned up in numbers for this game ❤️ You have our heart 🫶🏻
