Assalamu Alaikum
As a Pencak Silat Athlete and Coach it is my duty to clear the confusion among athletes,parents and common masses.Everybody is protesting against the final List of SO 12 in which 223 post were alloted to the outstanding athletes of recognised sports of J&K and India.I am not opposing anyone who is protesting right now they have right to speak but I will aware you here about the criteria formed by J&K administration, by which any sport can fall in the
JOB SRO list.
First of all, The sport must be recognized by J&K Govt.
J&K Government has notified 44 sports disciplines for JOB SRO so far. A new game/sport can be added to this list if:
1.The sport must have a National Sports Federation in India recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
2.There should be players, a state association, and regular tournaments in J&K for that sport.
3. GAD - General Administration Department issues an order to add new sports to the list.For Example: In 2021, Pencak Silat, Baseball, Netball, Ice Hockey, and Triathlon were added because J&K players were doing well, especially in Pencak Silat and Ice Hockey.
This is how a new sport added in the Job Sro:
1. The State Association or J&K Sports Council sends a proposal to GAD
2. Youth Services & Sports Department verifies the sport if it is genuine and has players and after that
3. GAD issues an order and the sport gets added to the 44-sport list.
Therefore it was never about OLYMPIC VS NON OLYMPIC
This is not my personell information anyone can go through the sports policy of J&K and check.
The protestors don't know the ABC of this criteria and confidently creating confusions,sharing false stories,using bad comments and bad language towards the administration.Even some of the Ex sportsperson commenting,sharing these protests without any knowledge.i think they don't want to see the development of sports in the UT.I can only say God bless them with good common sense.
