Pulwama’s Tauseef Ashraf Becomes India’s Youngest National Floorball Referee, Selected for International Development Seminar

PULWAMA, January 12:
Tauseef Ashraf from Pulwama has successfully qualified the Floorball B-Grade Referee Examination, becoming the youngest national referee in India. The examination was conducted by the Indian Floorball Federation (InFF).

Following the certification, 24 officials from across the country were *selected for an International Development Seminar*, and Tauseef was named among the selected officials — a notable milestone for both Pulwama and Jammu & Kashmir.

Tauseef’s preparation and participation were guided and facilitated by the J&K Floorball Association, which also provided the required sponsorship and technical support for his training and national recommendation. The achievement reflects the growing floorball ecosystem emerging from Jammu & Kashmir in recent years.

Speaking about the accomplishment, Tauseef expressed pride in representing the region and said he is “deeply thankful to Almighty Allah, my parents, and the J&K Floorball Association for their continuous support.”
He further expressed gratitude to the Indian Floorball Federation for the opportunity.

Tauseef also acknowledged the role of institutions and individuals who enabled his journey, particularly in terms of facilitation, sponsorship, and administrative coordination. He noted the continuous support of the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Mr. Basharat Qayoom (IAS), Social Activist Mudasir Ahmad Dar, and his Coach and General Secretary of the J&K Floorball Association, Mr. Fazan-ul-Fayaz, and Pulwama Police whose guidance helped him progress to the national stage.

Tauseef’s selection marks a positive development for Jammu & Kashmir’s sporting representation and reinforces the potential of emerging athletes from the district. He further expressed gratitude to the Indian Floorball Federation for the opportunity.

This selection marks another positive step for J&K’s emerging floorball talent and reinforces the state’s increasing representation at the national level.
