She was your first teacher. She taught you how to speak, how to ask questions, how to try again when you got it wrong.

For millions of mothers across Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, sending their child to a government school is an act of hope.

They trust that the system will show up for their children.

At Vinoba, we work to make sure it does: through motivated teachers, better learning outcomes, and a community that does not let any child fall behind.

Happy Mother's Day. To the first teachers, and the ones who believe in them.

Tag a mother who believed in education.

Teacher Mr Shyamsingh Nureti teaches at a Govt School, Binta, in Bastar district. His students used to feel hesitant, unseen.

So he did something small but powerful: he recorded their best moments and uploaded the videos to YouTube.

When children saw themselves on screen, their confidence changed overnight.

But the real turning point? The Vinoba app. He found recognition, peer learning, and a community that finally clapped for his work.

He won the Post of the Month award. His CEO noticed. His students thrived.

One teacher. One belief. One platform. This is the Vinoba story.

Share this with a teacher who deserves more recognition.

Reading expands your world, fuels creativity, strengthens the mind, and sharpens communication. Mr. Samadhan Shiketod, a teacher at ZP School Raghuchiwadi in Dharashiv district, wanted his students to grow up imbibing all these.

It pained him that his students were not reading books, especially at home. So he decided to take the library to their homes, in a unique way.

He began visiting their homes and helped each family to create a small library. He made parents aware of the importance of reading at a young age, and personally ensured that students had access to the right books.

Increased reading habits among students cultivated deeper focus and patience, resulting into remarkable improvement in academic performance too.

On World Book Day, OLF stands in support of the hundreds of government teachers who are striving to build reading habits among children in their own innovative ways.

No announcements. No funding. No big campaign.

Just a school headmaster who decided to start planting.

At Bharuwadih Govt School in Raipur, Mr. Dinesh Verma began with a few saplings on the sprawling land within the school compound that lay dry and weedy when he came.

He did not wait for govt funds, and spent from his pockets to see that the school premises look clean and green.

Day after day, he kept going. Students noticed. Curiosity turned into participation. Participation turned into habit.

What was once barren is now filled with fruit trees, flowers, and fresh air. The school is now known across the block for its green and clean surroundings.

Real change rarely begins with resources. It begins with intent.

From feeling invisible to being celebrated…

Only 200 out of 2,100 schools have reached here today. Imagine the transformation when every school participates." - That’s Bastar District Collector Mr. Akash Chhikara (IAS), placing his trust firmly in government school teachers. ‘Nanhe Sitare’, held jointly by the District Administration, HSBC, and Open Links Foundation, was more than just an event. It was a glimpse of what’s possible.

Meanwhile, in the quiet corners of the stage, proud parents of first-generation students from rural backgrounds posed with their winning children, eyes full of emotion…

The district grand finale of the 13th edition of Nanhe Sitare, saw a zealous participation of 400 people - including 133 students and 150 mentor teachers. It was the reflection of one shared belief: That government schools - with empowered teachers – is where children truly come first. A belief that Open Links Foundation strives to strengthen with every step it takes.

No screens. No scrolling. Just books. For 18 hours. A whole village in Buldhana does this every year, and it hits different.

Every year, as the sun rises over Buldhana, something quietly extraordinary begins at Zilla Parishad School, Vivra.
Children, teachers, parents, elders-they all gather. Not for a fair. Not for a feast. For reading.

Starting at 5:00 AM and continuing non-stop until 11:00 PM, an entire village spends 18 hours immersed in books. Under the guidance of teacher Nilesh Kumar Solanke, this exercise is a living tribute to the man who believed, above all else, that education is the weapon with which you can change the world.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar didn't just write the Constitution. He wrote his own fate - through books, through learning, through relentless self-education.

The community at Vivra gets it.

Education isn't just learning subjects. It's the path to liberation.

Happy Ambedkar Jayanti!

A syllabus can teach a lesson, but only a teacher can build a life.

When the son of a school cook dropped out after the 10th grade, Mr. Chandrashekhar Sen stepped in. Through quiet mentorship and a steady presence, he guided the boy until he cleared his Class 12 exam and became a fellow teacher.

The transformation was silent but deep:

A mother left the shadow of the liquor trade for a life of dignity.

A village stopped doubting and started believing in the power of education.

Why the Vinoba Movement Matters

Individual stories like Mr. Sen’s are the heart of the Open Links Foundation. Vinoba envisions a world where no teacher walks this difficult path alone. The Vinoba Movement exists to connect these "quiet acts of leadership" across the map. It is more than an app; it is a community where a teacher’s humble success in a small village becomes the inspiration for a thousand others.

By documenting and sharing these transformations, we turn a solitary ripple into a national wave.

We believe that when teachers are linked, their collective service becomes the foundation of a transformed India.
